As a beneficiary of Free Craniofacial Surgery from CFDF, Nigeria during our Free Surgical Outreach at Benin. Florence Edemati who is from Warri, Delta state, Nigeria, decided to share her story to encourage the FDP (facially deformed persons).
She described her facial deformity as a sudden onset which has predisposed her to psychosocial distress as a result of negative social response from people. She said her facial appearance had drastically lowered her self-esteem until she came across this organization. Today, the entire story has changed! the free surgical intervention produced a rapid transformation, her self-confidence was restored and quality of life improved.

Dr. Seidu A. Bello, consultant maxillofacial surgeon and Director of the organization Seidu Bello analyzed the prevalence of NOMA diseases in Nigeria.
He describes NOMA as a severe infectious oro-facial disease that is capable of destroying or disfiguring the cheek, jaw, lip, nose or eyes so rapidly. He highlighted that it non-contagious but explains measures that can be taken to prevent the stigma.
