The Waiting Period: A Catalyst for Self-Discovery

Have you ever found yourself in a season of uncertainty, where every aspect of your life seems to be at a standstill? This liminal space, which can last anywhere from a month to several years, is what I call the waiting period. It's a time of solitude, unemployment, stagnant relationships, and struggling business ventures.

During this period, feelings of brokenness, loss, and self-doubt can overwhelm you. Negative thoughts and emotions may threaten to define your identity. But here's the thing: this moment doesn't have to break you. Instead, use it as an opportunity for self-reflection, introspection, awareness, and self-discovery.

Ask Yourself the Hard Questions!

Take time to ponder these essential questions:
1. Why am I here?
2. Who am I?
3. What do I truly want out of life?
Write down your answers and provide at least one response to each question. Reflect on your responses, research, and develop strategies that will help you fulfill your aspirations.

Take Ownership of Your Life!
Don't wait for life to turn around; instead, pursue your goals and purpose with intention and determination. Trust me, you'll be amazed at what you'll discover. The clarity you gain about who you are, what you want, and how to achieve it is unparalleled.
This journey of self-discovery will also significantly improve your self-image and worth, enabling you to distinguish between what you need and what you want.

Conclusion
The waiting period isn't a time for sadness, anxiety, or self-pity. View it as a chance to fall down, get back up, and navigate life with renewed purpose and resilience. Remember, this season is not a permanent resident; it's a temporary visitor. So, use it wisely, and emerge stronger, wiser, and more determined to live your best life.

We usually underrate brain health and many could not differentiate between brain health, mental or behavioural health.

A few weeks ago, I was moving from one hospital to another, medical tests upon tests yet no reasonable diagnosis that warranted me stooling for two weeks, unending migraines, no sleep and my whole body was on fire with undescribable and excruciating pain.

In my solitude, I asked God for peace and begged to close my eyes just for a few days. But the more I asked for peace, the more all my buried emotions and pain came to the surface. Forcing me to process each of the events, emotions and healing. It got to a point that I was forgetting things as little as standing up to eat but can't remember why I stood up. I went to a restaurant from the hospital and I didn't realize I'd been standing outside the restaurant lost until the security man approached me thinking I missed my way. Then, my mind was brought back to the moment and instead of buying a meal, I bought two.

I haven't felt that level of loneliness, pain and craving for peace in my life that I booked an emergency flight to go home. Meanwhile, it was days away from my mum's retirement so my father, a few relatives and my sister's friend were around to celebrate the end of 35 years in the govt.

Two things lingered in my thoughts: reflection of my relationship with my Creator and people. Also, my ultimate goal, asking for more guidance and good health to accomplish them. I didn't think of su***de but I sure wish that if it's time, then I shouldn't have to suffer going because I live a life I'm proud of.

When I got home, I began to feel better with no medication just being around people, family and my loved ones. My friends kept calling even when I wasn't responding until I was able to tell them I am well.

So here's the point: Physical problems can affect your emotions and mental health leading to pressure on your brain where toxic chemicals are released aggravating your whole health. For persistent headaches, stomach pains, sudden ulcer attack, lack of sleep and even non stop stooling: check your mental and brain health. There is a neurobiological component of mood disorders, anxiety and PTSD which makes mental health problems become a brain problem too.

Brain health is associated with various disorders, including:

1. Alzheimer's disease
2. Parkinson's disease
3. Depression
4. Anxiety disorders
5. Traumatic brain injury (TBI)
6. Stroke and cerebrovascular disease
7. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
8. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
9. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
10. Multiple sclerosis (MS)
11. Migraines and other neurological disorders

Practice mindfulness, build and maintain strong bonds and relationship with friends and family, eat healthily, sleep well and exercise to maintain healthy brain and mind.

If only the evil doers knew that the evil they did to you, will land you in your glory.
If only they knew the things they said to tarnish your image will bring your helper to you.
If only they knew that not matter what they did, oil dey on top your head and God has declared you innocent.
Don't be sad, there's a reason for everything, every pain, every disgrace and every demotion. If you don't go low, you'll never appreciate being on top and lift others up.
Whatever you are going through right now is a clue to take you to your right destination.

Don't give up yet. Never ever lose hope.

Embrace vulnerability, we have all been there at one point in time, so find strength within. It's not the absence of challenges, but the courage to persist that defines us. 💪
