In humans, healthy cholesterol levels generally mean Total Cholesterol below 200 mg/dL, LDL ("bad") below 100 mg/dL, and HDL ("good") above 60 mg/dL, though ideal numbers vary by individual risk factors like diabetes or heart disease, with lower LDL and higher HDL preferred to prevent buildup in arteries, which can lead to heart issues.

Key Cholesterol Levels (mg/dL)
Total Cholesterol:
Desirable: Below 200
Borderline High: 200–239
High: 240 or higher
LDL ("Bad") Cholesterol:
Optimal: Below 100 (especially for those with heart disease risk)
Borderline High: 130–159
High: 160 or higher
HDL ("Good") Cholesterol:
Protective (Best): 60 mg/dL or higher
Low (Increases Risk): Below 40 mg/dL (for men) or 50 mg/dL (for women)

Why It Matters
Cholesterol is a waxy fat vital for building cells, but too much LDL can build up as plaque in artery walls, hardening them and increasing the risk of heart attack or stroke. Your doctor uses these numbers, along with your lifestyle and health history, to assess your cardiovascular risk.

Factors Influencing Levels
Diet: Saturated and trans fats raise bad cholesterol.
Genetics: Your genes play a role.
Lifestyle: Exercise and weight management help.
Other Conditions: Diabetes, obesity, and inflammation can impact levels.

Laboratory test results should go beyond identifying a problem, providing relevant details and analysis could be very helpful.

Whenever you visit the hospital and the ultrasonography tells you that you are having ovarian cysts, kindly ask them what type of ovarian cyst and whats the size .

Ovarian cysts less than 4cm that are asymptomatic are usually nothing to worry about.

Ask, is it a simple cyst, complex cyst, hemorrhagic cyst, dermoid cyst, cystadenoma, follicular cyst, or functional cyst?
All this information is important.

You must know the size too.

1. Simple Cyst
- A fluid-filled sac on the o***y
- Usually benign (non-cancerous)
- Common in women of reproductive age
- Often resolves on its own
- May cause mild symptoms or be asymptomatic

2. Complex Cyst
- Contains solid parts or different components (e.g., fluid, blood, tissue)
- May be benign or malignant (cancerous)
- Requires further evaluation (e.g., ultrasound, biopsy)
- Treatment depends on characteristics and symptoms

3. Hemorrhagic Cyst
- Filled with blood
- Often caused by bleeding into a follicular or simple cyst
- May cause pain or discomfort
- Usually resolves on its own, but monitoring is needed

4. Dermoid Cyst (Teratoma)
- Can contain various tissues (e.g., hair, teeth, bones, skin)
- Usually benign, but rare cases can be malignant
- Often found in younger women
- Typically requires surgical removal 🏥

5. Cystadenoma
- A type of benign tumor
- Filled with fluid or mucus
- May grow large and cause symptoms
- Usually requires surgical removal

6.Follicular Cyst
- Related to the menstrual cycle
- Forms when a follicle doesn't release an egg
- Common and usually resolves on its own
- May cause mild symptoms or be asymptomatic

7. Functional Cyst
- Also related to the menstrual cycle
- Includes follicular and corpus luteum cysts
- Typically harmless and resolves on its own
- May cause mild symptoms or be asymptomatic

Ovarian cysts can't prevent you from getting pregnant; likewise fibroids, people with this condition still get pregnant.
Size and locations also its important.

If you have an ovarian cyst, just know that you can't drink concoctions to cure an ovarian cyst filled with hair, teeth, and bones. Please give your doctors the chance to help you when they say surgery is the best option.

Some cysts contain fluid, some blood, some teeth, bones, hair, etc. Some are cancerous, others are not. Some need to be removed, others can be left untreated. Please make good health decisions. Seek a second opinion whenever in doubt.

NOTE: There are different types of ovarian cyst. Anyone who promises they will shrink a dermoid cyst or reverse an ovarian teratoma is not sincere but deceiving you and risking your health.
