KOGI STATE GOVERNOR DONATES 5 MILLION NAIRA TO INDIGENT PATIENTS AND A TRAILER LOAD OF BAGS OF RICE TO NHA STAFF.
The Kogi State Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has donated 5 million Naira in aid of indigent patients in the National Hospital Abuja.
The Governor while on a familiarity visit to the hospital, extolled the virtue of excellence, commitment to saving lives, and enhancing the medical well-being of Nigerians as institutionalized traditions of the apex hospital.
He applauded the passion and professionalism of the Chief Medical Director, Prof Muhammad Raji Mahmud and the entire management and staff of the hospital for living up the founding objectives of the hospital despite daunting operational challenges.
Governor Ododo therefore pledged to champion an advocacy to drum up support to the hospital from well meaning Nigerians, stressing that any iota of support to the National Hospital, is a direct investment on the well-being of Nigerians.
He thereafter handed a donation of the Five Million Naira in aid of indigent patients on admission in the hospital, and pledged another donation of a trailer load of rice to be shared to staff of the hospital in appreciation and encouragement for their wonderful services to Nigeria.
In his response, the Chief Medical Director, National Hospital Abuja, Prof Muhammad Raji Mahmud expressed delight with the magnanimous gesture of the Governor, describing him as passionate and compassionate statesman worthy of emulation.
He then assured the Governor of the hospital's commitment to collaborate with the Kogi state Government in the areas of medical training and host of other medical collaborations in tune with the commitment of the governor to usher in a more prosperous medical landscape in the state.
He further revealed that, with the support of the federal government, the National Hospital is working diligently towards redefining healthcare delivery services that tally with global best practices befitting its status of an apex hospital, and with that hoping to bring an end to medical tourism.
