You're supposed to have it all figured out by your 30s!
I started out fast; I started nursery school earlier than I should have because according to my parents I would not stop crying whenever my elder sister was leaving for school, so they begged the head mistress and she allowed them enroll me. I went on to skip classes in primary school, I caught up with my elder sister and got into secondary school very early.
I started wearing glasses quite young and so I was always perceived as smart, don't get me wrong; I was quite smart, but not as much as people around me thought and that put me under a lot of pressure.
I did okay in my SSCE, okay enough to get into Uni but not to study Medicine which is what everyone expected me to study as a good science student and yes, let's not forget the glasses, what else would a young, smart, glasses wearing girl study? Medicine and Surgery!
I got into Uni to study Physics, I tried, I tired up till 3rd year to switch to Medicine and Surgery and when it did not work that year I finally gave up, focused and got my 1st degree very early in my 20s. I have since trained and worked in HSE, Data Analysis (I don't know why, maybe because it was trending), and even Cybersecurity.
So what am I doing now changing to a career in Law you may wonder? And so late into my 30s.
This passion began burning during my NYSC(how it came is a story for another day), I've nursed it, tried to ignore it, tried to find ways around it, thought I could do without it, convinced myself I was too old to do it, and then went right back to it.
I'm glad I found The University of Law and they're making me into the best lawyer I could possibly be. This program has probably been one of the most difficult things I've ever embarked on in my life but I'm glad I'm doing it.
I'm doing it, and no one can take that away from me.
