I SAW YOU ON "SATIDE"...
Before I start writing let me tell you that Saturday is beeing pronounce as 'Satide' in Yoruba language. That is the adulterated pronunciation of Saturday. The actual name for the 7th day of the week which the English call Saturday is "Abameta".
Now, this is the gist:
When I moved from Kano to Ibadan, and after learning a skill for about a year, my mom was worried that I may not attend school again, so she sort help from an old time family friend who was a retired teacher in public school, so that I can return to school.
Instead of I getting admitted to SS1 or 2, I had to repeat JSS3 because I could not produce my promotion exam result from Junior Secondary School to Senior Secondary School. I never came with it from Kano.
In my new school, I met Toyin.
Toyin was fair in complexion, robust, and with a constant brilliant smile. What actually attracted girls to me was my brilliancy, and art work. I was a talented artist. But I personally longed for curvy and choppy girls. Either dark or fair, but preferably dark.
Even though many girls like talking to me, I usually shy away, I think due to having a low self-esteem, courtesy of my small stature. Apart from that, I was not bad looking, with my Afro hair cut.
So one day, while coming to school in the morning, I met Toyin at the entrance gate, and in an effort to "talk to my crush and see her talk back"_I committed blunder. I have wanted to start the conversation with "I saw you on Saturday"; but ended up saying: "I SAW YOU ON SATIDE"😀
