Snake Bite?

It happened on a normal evening in a small compound.

Power had just gone off.
Mama sent Sadiq, 11 years old, to the backyard to fetch the clothes on the washing line before rain started.
Barefoot. Because “it's just behind the house,” Sadiq went to do as he was told.

As he bent down, the little bush behind him moved a bit.
Not wind.
Not rat.
