Empowering Women Through Inclusive Business Skills
AWWDI has officially launched the Inclusive Business Training for women in Zuma 2 Gaba Community Bwari Area Council, FCT — in partnership with UNFPA Nigeria.
This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to economic inclusion and gender equity, ensuring women, especially those with disabilities, gain the skills and confidence to run sustainable small businesses.
In Nigeria and across the world, SMEs contribute over 40% to national GDPs, driving job creation and economic stability. Yet, too many women—particularly those living with disabilities—remain excluded from this growth due to systemic barriers and lack of access to opportunities.
Financial independence reduces vulnerability. When women earn income, they are less likely to experience abuse, more likely to access healthcare and education, and more empowered to make life decisions for themselves and their families.
We commend UNFPA for supporting this life-changing initiative and celebrate the resilience and determination of the women participating. With the right tools, they are not just surviving — they are thriving.
Together, we are investing in dignity, in resilience, and in a future where no woman is left behind.
Description for the Visually Impaired:
The photo shows a bright, airy training hall filled with seated women and a few men, many of whom are persons with disabilities. Some wear traditional colorful attire while others are in modest everyday clothes. A facilitator in a tie-dye outfit is seen standing and engaging with participants. In the background, a roll-up banner displays the logos of UNFPA and AWWDI, along with the project title promoting empowerment of women with disabilities in the FCT. The mood in the room is warm, interactive, and focused.
Inclusion is not charity — it's a right.
