Great impacts were made during the first-ever African Women in Medicine, Health and Wellness conference hosted by the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN) in collaboration with the Johns Hopkins International Vaccine Access Centre(IVAC) on the 27th and 28th of June 2024.
IVAC anchored two plenary sessions and two presentations at the conference.
The panelists comprised experts in public health such as Dr. Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu, Dr. Rufai Ahamed, Dr. Amina Dorayi, Prof. Rosemary Ogu, and Dr. Chizoba Wonodi, among others.
The panelists discussed extensively on benefits of Multi-Stakeholder partnerships in cervical cancer elimination and leveraging existing platforms for cervical cancer screening.
The first presentation centered on the Multistakeholder engagement process for HPV vaccine introduction in Nigeria: The IVAC perspective was presented by while the second presentation was on strategies for Advocacy, sensitization, and mobilization for phase HPV vaccine in Nigeria, The CSO perspective, was presented by Barrister Chinyere Stella Ogu of Supporting Women and Girls Initiative, a CSO from Imo state.
Also in attendance were other stakeholders from Health, wellness, and students who all contributed immensely to the success of the conference.
