According to the International Labor Organization (ILO), it is estimated that about 360million of the world’s working age group are disabled and unemployment among the disabled is as high as 80% in some countries. Thousands of people with disabilities have been found to be successful small business owners, according to the U.S. The 1990 national census revealed that people with disabilities have a higher rate of self-employment and small business experience (12.2%) than people without disabilities (7.8%). In Nigeria, the absence of disability friendly infrastructure in both Government and private organizations has denied this vulnerable group the right to contribute their quota to the National development.
“We Are Able” Radio Program on Raypower 100.5 FM was lunched to create awareness regarding the rights, respects and dignity, the capabilities, achievement and contributions of persons with disability in the society.
