How to Increase Your Chances of Having Twins

Giving birth to twins doesn’t have to be a difficult experience; there are things you can do to increase your chances of giving birth to twins; with twins, you can be pregnant with either identical twins or fraternal twins.

👶 Conceiving identical twins starts with a single s***m fertilizing a single egg. This fertilized egg then divides into two, which results in identical twins. The babies born are of the same s*x and share the same DNA. The chances of conceiving identical twins are very slim.

👶 Fraternal twins are not identical. They’re conceived when two separate eggs released by the ovaries are fertilized by two separate s***m cells. fraternal twins don’t have the same DNA. They don’t look identical and can be of different s*xes.

Fraternal twins occur more often than identical twins. The ovaries rarely release more than one egg. But, it is possible to stimulate the ovaries, which may result in the release of an extra egg.

Here are somethings that can increases your chances of getting twins

👪 Family History/ Genetics:

You may have heard that twins “run in families.” This is partially true. If you or your partner have a family history of twins, if you’re a fraternal twin yourself your chances of having twins are slightly higher.

One reason for this may be hyperovulation, which is a situation where the body releases two or more eggs during ovulation, and hyperovulation can be passed down in your DNA

💁 Age:

Women over 35 have a slightly higher chance of conceiving twins, Hormonal changes that happen as you near menopause may encourage the body to release more than one egg during ovulation

🍕 High BMI:

Women with a higher BMI are also more likely to have twins, according to Pristyn Care. Women who have overweight or obesity also have a higher chance of conceiving twins naturally. Specifically, the chances are highest if your body mass index (BMI) is above 30.
Don’t intentionally gain weight to increase your chances of having twins. Having a BMI over 30 may also place you in the high-risk category of pregnancy, we will suggest you speak to a obstetrician.

👶 Fertility Medications: Clomiphene and gonadotropins can stimulate the ovaries to release multiple eggs, leading to fraternal twins if both are fertilized.

👶 IVF: During IVF (in vitro fertilization) (IUI), multiple embryos may be transferred to the uterus, increasing the chance of a multiple pregnancy.

👶 Risks of Multiple Pregnancies:
Twin pregnancies, can also carry increased risks for both the mother and babies, such as premature birth, low birth weight, and gestational diabetes.

That’s not to say you can’t have a totally healthy pregnancy with two babies. It just means you may need to be monitored more closely.

👶 Conclusion:
There is no guaranteed way to conceive twins, some factor can only increase the odds, its very important to consult with a physician before taking this step.

Will I Have Symptoms If My Blood Pressure Is High?

I know many people would want an answer to this question. Unfortunately, the answer is yes and no.

People with high blood pressure may not feel symptoms while others will. The only way to know is to get your blood pressure checked.

Blood pressure is written as two numbers. The systolic number represents the pressure in blood vessels when the heart contracts or beats, and the diastolic number represents the pressure in the vessels when the heart rests between beats.

I know a man whose blood pressure was 220/140, this value is considered as a dangerous blood pressure, the peculiar thing was he did not have any symptoms that we could trace to High blood pressure, no nausea, no chest tightness, no severe headaches, no chest pain, no dizziness, no difficulty breathing, no blurred vision. We got to know after he checked his BP

The blood pressure goal is less than 130/80 according to WHO.

What makes the sound when you cracks your knuckles
You might be thinking “oh I just cracked my bones”, but unfortunately your bones did not make that cracking sound.
Popping” or “cracking sound that happens when we crack our knuckles is caused by popping bubbles in your synovial fluid, which is responsible for lubricating your joints. When you pull your bones apart or bend your fingers, there is a buildup of negative pressure, making the bubbles to burst.
It is also possible for your joints to produce a popping sound due to the movement of your ligaments when stretching or bending the joints in your fingers.
Knuckle cracking isn’t good for you or bad for you. It’s just a thing people do. like me I crack my knuckle when am tensed, hearing that pop, sound like a relief. For others, it’s just a habit.
FAQ: Oh yes I know you want answers. Here it is;
Why can’t I crack my knuckle and hear a sound immediately after a previous sound?
After a knuckle has been cracked, it usually takes about 20 minutes for the gas bubbles to reform in the synovial fluid, which is why you can’t crack the same knuckle immediately again.
2. Is there any other part of the body that makes such sound?
Several parts of the body can make popping sounds, not just knuckles. Knees, shoulders, elbows, ankles, hips, neck, spine, and back are all known for making popping or cracking noises,
3. Does popping a joint cause any damage?
There isn’t a lot of evidence to suggest cracking your joints is dangerous, though more research needs to be done.
If your joint cracking is accompanied with pain, swelling or other symptoms, we would recommend you see a Doctor. 🍏

Discolored patches on the skin might be caused by Fungi.
How do you treat it?

I took these pictures a few months ago, I had a feeling I was going to write about the discoloration on my face and here it is;

I began to notice a discoloration on my face and thought it was just a reaction to a soap I changed, so I bought another soap hoping to see a change, Unfortunately, I did not see any change. Then I decided to self-medicate, I applied Funbact A cream for some days and the effect was disastrous, the discoloration began to spread like a wide fire all over my face.

After seeing the effect of my action I finally spoke to a friend who is a medical practitioner, I know I know that would have been the first step I would have taken typical me. lol.

She took a close look at my face, asked me some questions, and said this is tinea versicolor. Ti-nea wha! I asked.

What is Tinea versicolor?
A common fungal infection of the skin that causes scaly, discolored patches, often on the trunk and upper arms.

Tinea versicolor happens when something causes Malassezia to quickly grow on the skin. It is more common in hot climates or with excess sweating.

These yeasts are normally found on the human skin and become troublesome only under certain conditions, such as a warm and humid environment, although the exact conditions that cause initiation of the disease process are poorly understood.

Doctors aren’t sure why this happens, but they have identified certain factors that may increase the likelihood of tinea versicolor. These include:
1. Hot and humid weather
2. oily skin
3. pregnancy
4. weakened immune system
5. family history of tinea versicolor

It’s good to know how common tinea versicolor is. It’s not some genetic thing. “I think the main thing to know is that it’s a nuisance, but something [you] shouldn’t be medically afraid of,” says Prystowsky.

Key Points:
1. Although tinea versicolor can occur in immunosuppressed patients, most affected patients are healthy.

2. With proper treatment, it typically takes tinea versicolor weeks or months to resolve.

3. Ensure to see a doctor when you see symptoms, Don't self-medicate.

4. Treat with topical or oral antifungals, we would highly recommend you see a physician.

After I saw a physician I applied Ketoconazole cream twice a day, and in less than two weeks, my face was back to normal.

Eye Twitching: Causes, Types and Recommendation

👁 Eye twitching is a common issue, and for most people it’s just a minor, passing annoyance.

Eye twitching is a movement of the eyelid or eye muscles that can’t be controlled. There are different types of eye twitching. Each type of twitch has a different cause.

The most common type of eye twitching is called myokymia. This type of twitch is very common and happens to most people at some point. It can involve either the upper or lower eyelid, but usually only one eye at a time.

The twitching usually goes away within a short time but could happen again over a few hours, days or longer.
let’s take a look at other types of eye twitching.

Type of Twitching

Eye twitching has different types with different causes, a few which are:
👁 Eyelid myokymia — described as continuous and fine contractions that mainly affect lower eyelid.

👁 Blepharospasm — a condition characterized by abnormal blinking or spasms of the eyelids, which is usually a bilateral condition.

👁 Hemifacial spasm — a neuromuscular disorder characterized by frequent involuntary contractions of the muscles on one side of the face

The most common type of eyelid twitching, called myokymia, may be triggered by:
🍺 Alcohol intake
💡 Bright light
🥤 Excess consumption of Caffeine
👓 Eye strain
🥱 Fatigue
😴 Irritation of the eye surface or inner eyelids
Stress

When to seek medical attention

Eye twitching usually goes away within a few days after avoiding trigger factors. I would suggest you see an ophthalmologist if:

👁 The twitching persists longer than 2–3 weeks
👁 Twitching happens in other parts of the face or body
👁 Red or swollen eye, eye discharge
👁 Drooping eyelid

The treatment for eye twitching depends mainly on why it’s happening. And sometimes, it doesn’t need treatment at all because it’s happening for reasons that are normal and harmless.

Most of the time, eye twitching happens because of minor issues or changes.
Doing the following can help reduce the frequency of eye twitching:

😴 Make sure you get enough sleep.
🍱 Eat a balanced diet to make sure you get enough nutrients.
🥱 Try to limit or reduce your stress.
🍹 Limit how much caffeine you consume.
