To keep things dry and fungus free, focus on moisture control and hygiene.
Here are five effective ways to prevent an infection:

1. Prioritize Dryness:
Fungi thrive in damp,
dark environments.
After showering or exercising, dry your skin thoroughly
especially in skin folds, between toes,
and the groin area.
Consider using an antifungal powder
if you sweat heavily.

2. Wear Breathable Fabrics:
Stick to natural fibers like
cotton for underwear and socks.
These materials allow air to circulate
and moisture to evaporate, unlike synthetic fabrics like nylon which trap sweat against the skin.

3. Use Footwear in Public Spaces:
Never go barefoot in communal areas like gym showers, locker rooms, or pool decks.
These are breeding grounds for fungi;
wearing flip flops or shower shoes creates a necessary barrier.

4. Practice Gear Hygiene:
Don’t re-wear sweaty gym clothes or damp socks. Change into clean, dry sets daily. If you have a history of athlete’s foot, rotate your shoes so they have at least 24 hours to air out completely before the next use.

5. Avoid Sharing Personal Items:
Fungal spores can live on surfaces for a long time. To prevent "hitchhiking" fungi, do not share towels, razors, hairbrushes, or unwashed clothing with others.
