Doctors diagnose sickle cell anemia through a checkup and blood tests. During the checkup, they may feel your belly to check your spleen or liver, ask about symptoms like pain in your arms, legs, or stomach, and review your past health.

Blood tests can measure red blood cells, identify the type of hemoglobin in your blood, and look for genetic changes that cause sickle cell anemia.

Today is World Sepsis Day 🌍

Sepsis is a life-threatening condition that happens when the body’s response to an infection harms its own tissues and organs. In Africa, sepsis is a major cause of preventable deaths—especially among newborns, children, and vulnerable adults.
✨ Early recognition saves lives.
✨ Prompt medical care is critical.
✨ Together, we can spread awareness and protect our communities.

Let’s stand united to fight sepsis and save lives across Africa. 💪🏾
