We’re proud to highlight a recent milestone from our radiology team, led by Dr. Ukweh Ofonime, who successfully carried out a Transradial Transcatheter Tumour Embolization.

This is a minimally invasive, image-guided procedure where tiny particles are delivered through a catheter to block the blood supply feeding a tumour, helping to shrink it while protecting surrounding tissue.

Meet Dr Waleed Alsharkawy, our Consultant Interventional Cardiologist and Head of Cath Lab at African Medical Center of Excellence, whose clinical experience spans preventive cardiology, hypertension management, coronary artery disease, heart failure, and valvular heart diseases.

Dr Waleed brings a wealth of expertise to our team, having performed over 1,000 coronary intervention procedures, including coronary angiography, PCI, complex bifurcation techniques, and intravascular imaging, while also contributing to cardiology education.
