*Diphtheria:* is a serious bacterial infection that affects the mucous membranes of the throat and nose. Although it spreads easily from one person to another serious infection of the nose and throat that's easily preventable by a vaccine.

*Symptoms Of Diphtheria*
Requires a medical diagnosis
Symptoms include sore throat, fever, swollen lymph nodes and weakness.
*People may experience:*
Whole body: chills, fatigue, fever, or malaise
Respiratory: noisy breathing or shortness of breath.
Skin: rashes or ulcers
Speech: hoarseness or impaired voice
Throat: difficulty swallowing or soreness
Also common: cough, muscle weakness, runny nose, swelling, or swollen lymph nodes.

Diphtheria bacteria spread from person to person, usually through respiratory droplets, like from coughing or sneezing. People can also get sick from touching infected open sores or ulcers. Those at increased risk of getting sick include: People in the same household.
