Many of my patients have shared their struggles with eye strain from excessive screen time. One patient, came to me complaining of constant headaches and the feeling of eye dryness after long hours in front of her computer.

She works in a demanding job that requires her to stare at screens for most of the day. This is just one example of the challenges many of us face in today's digital age.

Here are some tips to help alleviate the discomfort and prevent future eye strain.

1. Learn to take regular breaks:
Follow the 20-20-20 rule - every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds to give your eyes a rest.

2. Adjust screen brightness: Decrease screen brightness to reduce glare and ease strain on your eyes, especially in low-light conditions.

3. Blink frequently: Remember to blink regularly to keep your eyes moist and prevent dryness, which can exacerbate eye strain.

4. Use proper lighting: Ensure adequate lighting in your workspace to reduce contrast between the screen and your surroundings, minimizing eye strain.

5. Position your screen correctly: Position your screen at arm's length away and slightly below eye level to reduce strain on your neck and eyes.

6. Use blue light filters: Consider using blue light filters or glasses to reduce exposure to harmful blue light emitted by screens, which can contribute to eye fatigue.

Remember, it's essential to listen to your body and take breaks when needed to prioritize your eye health.
