The Importance of Physical Fitness for Muslim Children
Islam teaches us to nurture every aspect of our lives — spiritually, intellectually, and physically. For Muslim children, growing up with the consciousness of Allah (SWT) and the Sunnah of His Messenger (SAW) must also include maintaining a strong and healthy body. The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: “A strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than a weak believer, though there is good in both” (Sahih Muslim). This hadith reminds us that physical fitness strengthens not only the body but also the spirit and determination needed for worship and daily life.
For children, engaging in sports and fitness activities is not just about exercise — it builds discipline, teamwork, confidence, and resilience. It also helps them balance their studies, religious learning, and social development, preparing them to be well-rounded leaders in the Ummah.
Today at TYMa Iledu TC Centre of Badagry Zone, we witnessed this beautiful principle in action through the vibrant sports activities organized for our children. The atmosphere was filled with energy, laughter, and joy as the children participated actively, showing their talents, unity, and enthusiasm. Events like this not only promote physical well-being but also strengthen bonds within our community.
We sincerely appreciate our children for their active participation, the handlers for their tireless efforts in planning and guiding, and the parents for their constant support and encouragement. This collective effort reflects the true spirit of Tarbiyyah (holistic upbringing) that TYMa stands for.
As a community, we encourage more of such activities in the future. Beyond academics and religious education, our children deserve consistent opportunities to engage in physical and social development programs that prepare them for life with balance, strength, and faith.
May Allah bless all who contributed to making today’s program a success, and may He grant our children good health, knowledge, and strong faith.
