Let me begin by saying that building the future of any society does not start in government offices or boardrooms. It starts with the kind of young men and women we intentionally raise and prepare for responsibility.
In recent years, there has been a lot of attention on the development and empowerment of the girl child, and rightly so. For many years, the girl child was neglected, and several initiatives have worked hard to correct that imbalance by giving her education, leadership opportunities, protection, and a stronger voice in society. This is a good and necessary development.
However, while we continue to empower the girl child, we must also pay intentional attention to the boy child.
Because the truth is simple: society cannot function well if one side is built and the other side is ignored.
When we raise strong, confident, educated girls but fail to raise responsible, disciplined, and emotionally mature boys, we create an imbalance in society. We end up preparing young women to face unprepared men. We train girls to lead, to grow, and to succeed, while many boys grow up without guidance, mentorship, and without clear direction on what it truly means to be men, and in the long run, this affects families, relationships, communities, and the entire society.
