In 30 days, billions will forget.
But 1.7 billion people can’t.

Neglected Tropical Diseases don’t trend.
They don’t make headlines.
Yet they quietly steal sight, dignity, and childhoods.

As January approaches, let’s talk about the diseases the world keeps ignoring
and the lives we can still change.

The countdown begins.

2025 Scorecard, Part 2

As 2025 comes to a close, we reflect with gratitude and renewed commitment at End Neglected Tropical Diseases Initiative.

Founded in 2024 and operational from January 2025, this year marked our transition from vision to action—reaching communities affected by neglected tropical diseases, amplifying awareness through media engagement, strengthening stakeholder partnerships, and expanding our presence across Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe, Jigawa, and Kano States.

From community outreaches and stakeholder dialogues to institutional launches and new field offices, each milestone reaffirmed one truth: NTDs can be eliminated when communities, government, and partners work together.

As we look toward 2030, our resolve remains firm—to scale impact, reach underserved populations, and contribute meaningfully to the elimination of schistosomiasis and other NTDs.

We thank our partners and supporters and welcome new collaborations as we enter the next phase of impact.

Why does ending Neglected Tropical Diseases matter?

NTDs go beyond illness.

They disrupt education, reduce productivity, limit income, and lower overall quality of life.
Ending NTDs is not only a health mission. It is a development necessity.
Through sustained advocacy and education, we can break the cycle of neglect and build healthier communities.

💧 Schistosomiasis Is Not Just a Rural Problem — It’s Happening in Our Cities

Right in the heart of Bauchi town, along the busy Bauchi–Kano road, lies Shadawanka Stream—a place where children bathe, swim, wash clothes, and seek relief from the scorching heat.

What they don’t see are the freshwater snails silently transmitting schistosomiasis.

🚨 The Reality on the Ground

Boys and girls are exposed daily, with young girls at risk of female ge***al schistosomiasis

Many children report painful urination and blood in urine, yet have never received treatment

Dangerous myths persist: symptoms blamed on sunlight, age, or “normal” bodily changes

This is an urban neglected tropical disease crisis, hidden in plain sight

💚 End Neglected Tropical Diseases Initiative Took Action
Our dedicated team stepped in to:
✅ Assess the situation on-site
✅ Raise awareness in local languages
✅ Run social and behavioural change campaigns using community posters
✅ Distribute life-saving medicines
✅ Follow up with families to ensure monitoring and care

📸 Every step was documented. Every child mattered.

🌍 But One Community Is Not Enough
Millions across Nigeria and other endemic regions still live with the same risk—without awareness, diagnosis, or treatment.

🎯 Our Goal: Eliminate schistosomiasis and other NTDs by 2030

🤝 We are calling on donors, partners, and funders to support us in:

Expanding community outreach to other affected areas

Scaling preventive chemotherapy and health education

Strengthening surveillance in urban and peri-urban settings

Protecting children before lifelong complications begin

👉 Your support can turn neglected streams into safe spaces and save children from preventable suffering.

What Are Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs)?

Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) are a group of preventable and treatable diseases that affect over 1.7 billion people globally, especially in underserved communities.
Despite their impact on health, education, and livelihoods, they remain largely overlooked.
At End NTDs Initiative, we believe awareness is the first step toward elimination.

✨ As 2025 Comes to a Close, Impact Speaks Louder Than Words ✨

In 2025, End Neglected Tropical Diseases Initiative (End NTDs Initiative) took bold, strategic steps to ensure that no community is left behind in the fight against Neglected Tropical Diseases.

We didn’t just reach communities — we engaged their highest voices of trust and influence.

This year, our team paid courtesy and advocacy visits to some of Nigeria’s most respected traditional leaders, including:

👑 The Emir of Kano, HRH Alh. (Dr.) Aminu Ado-Bayero, CFR, CNOL, JP
👑 The Emir of Dutse, HRH Alh. Muhammad Hamim Nuhu Sanusi, CFR
👑 The Emir of Jama’are, HRH Alh (Dr) Nuhu Ahmad Wabi
👑 The Senior District Head of Gombe, Alh. Ibrahim Bappa Muhammad

Why does this matter?

Traditional leaders are more than symbols —
✔️ They command deep respect
✔️ They influence health-seeking behaviour
✔️ They bridge communities, religious leaders, and government
✔️ They open doors to sustainable, community-owned solutions

By strengthening partnerships at this level, we are laying a powerful foundation for NTD elimination that lasts.

🌍 Because when communities trust the message, lives are transformed.

As 2026 begins in just 6 days, our vision is clear:
➡️ Reach more underserved communities
➡️ Scale community-led NTD interventions
➡️ Deepen partnerships that accelerate elimination

💙 Your support makes this possible.
Every donation, partnership, and act of solidarity helps us turn influence into impact and commitment into cures.

👉 Join us in 2026.
👉 Invest in trusted community pathways.
👉 Help end Neglected Tropical Diseases — for good.
