EID-AL-FITR PUBLIC HOLIDAY

Following the declaration by the Federal Government of Nigeria, Thursday, 19th March 2026, Friday, 20th March 2026, and Sunday, 22nd March 2026 have been declared public holidays to commemorate the Eid-al-Fitr celebration.

Normal hospital activities will resume on Monday, 23rd March 2026.

Spreading Awareness During World Glaucoma Week! 🧠👁️

Knowledge is the first line of defense against the "silent thief of sight." This week, we hosted an incredibly productive presentation to educate both our staff and patients about the risks, early detection, and management of Glaucoma.

We are pleased to share additional moments from the successful SightQuest Nigeria stakeholders’ lunch held at the Banquet Hall, Government House Bauchi.

The event brought together representatives from the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, the Primary Health Care Board, Hospital Management Board, security agencies, and other partners, alongside our international leadership team and CBM representatives.

These engagements continue to strengthen partnerships and commitment toward expanding access to quality eye care services and reducing avoidable blindness in Bauchi State.

Together, we are building a stronger future for inclusive eye health.

A memorable moment from the SightQuest Nigeria Launch held at the Banquet Hall, Government House Bauchi.

The event brought together key stakeholders committed to strengthening eye health services in Bauchi State and Nigeria. We were honored by the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, Primary Health Care Board, Hospital Management Board, security agencies, and other distinguished partners.

Our leadership team from Albasar International Foundation was also present, including the Director of the Africa Office, the Regional Director General, and the Regional Project Director. We were equally privileged to welcome the CBM team who joined us from Germany and their Country Office in Abuja.

Together, we are strengthening partnerships to improve access to quality and inclusive eye health services for communities across Bauchi State.

Makkah Specialist Eye Hospital, Bauchi, continues to expand access to quality eye care services across key institutions in the state.

Recently, in collaboration with the 33 Artillery Brigade Shadawanka Barracks, we conducted a Refraction Screening exercise for personnel and members of the barracks community. The outreach included vision screening, comprehensive eye examinations, and a health education lecture on the importance of eye health, prevention of common eye conditions, and early treatment. Individuals identified with refractive errors were properly guided for corrective measures, including prescription glasses where necessary.

Yesterday, we were also at the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Bauchi State Command, where we carried out similar eye screening and eye health education activities for officers and staff.

We sincerely appreciate the leadership and personnel of both institutions for their warm reception and commitment to promoting good eye health.

Together, we continue to bring quality eye care closer to the community.
