REPORT OF MY APPOINTMENT AS ACReSAL AMBASSADOR IN KEBBI STATE AND STRATEGIC ENGAGEMENT WITH ACReSAL SPMU
On Friday, 2nd May 2025, I had the distinct honour of being formally recognised as the ACReSAL Ambassador for Kebbi State during a strategic engagement session hosted at the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project State Project Management Unit (SPMU) office in Birnin Kebbi. It was a truly inspiring and humbling experience to be entrusted with such a critical role at the intersection of agriculture, climate resilience, and community development.
I am deeply grateful to the leadership of the Kebbi State ACReSAL SPMU for the honour and the fruitful conversation we had during the meeting. I was particularly impressed by the scope and impact of the projects being implemented across the state. These include the establishment of a modern greenhouse facility at the Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero, which is set to enhance research, training, and sustainable crop production for young agriculturists.
Of special significance to me was the 100-hectare rangeland developed in Dalijan, Gwandu Local Government Area. This innovative rangeland is powered by three solar boreholes and equipped with three animal drinking points. It is planted with nutrient-rich, climate-resilient grasses such as Kyasuwa, Gamba, and Stylosanthes—species selected not just for their role in improving livestock nutrition but also for their contribution to soil regeneration and ecological balance.
I view this project as more than an agricultural intervention; it represents a fusion of environmental engineering, social innovation, and peacebuilding. It provides a practical model of how local participation and sustainable practices can help resolve recurring tensions between farming and herding communities, while also adapting to the challenges of a changing climate.
As ACReSAL Ambassador in Kebbi State, I am fully committed to supporting and promoting these forward-thinking initiatives. I believe my experience and journey as a youth farmer and agripreneur give me a unique vantage point to connect ACReSAL's objectives with grassroots realities. Through my role, I intend to engage directly with communities, advocate for increased youth involvement in sustainable agriculture, and promote practical climate-smart farming solutions.
My daily work at Dobash International and Multi-Resources Ltd Farms, where we implement precision farming techniques, integrated pest management, and crop diversification, has shown me firsthand how agriculture can be both sustainable and profitable.
Beyond representation, I see this ambassadorial role as a platform to facilitate collaboration among key stakeholders—government institutions, local farmers, herders, academic institutions, and private sector actors. I am committed to creating pathways for training, mentorship, and innovation that empower our communities, particularly our youth and women. I am also passionate about advancing peaceful coexistence and contributing meaningfully to solutions that address the root causes of farmer-herder conflicts.
As we move forward, I assure the Kebbi State ACReSAL team of my unwavering support and readiness to collaborate towards achieving shared goals. I am confident that together, we can reimagine our agricultural systems and build resilient landscapes that secure food, livelihoods, and harmony for present and future generations.
Thank you once again for the honour. I look forward to the journey ahead.
