NVMA Chairman’s Speech
Your Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, ably represented by Hon. Kabiru Usman Alaramma,
Our royal father, His Royal Highness the Emir of Gwandu, ably represented by Galadiman Gwandu,
Honorable Commissioners here present,
Our distinguished keynote and guest speakers,
Our esteemed partners from WHO,
Directors, professionals, students, members of the press, ladies and gentlemen…
It is with great honor that we gather here today to mark World Rabies Day 2025 under the global theme: “Act Now: You, Me, Community.”
This theme is both timely and relevant. It reminds us that the fight against rabies is not for government alone, not for veterinarians alone, but for all of us—individually and collectively. You, me, and our community must act now to eliminate rabies.
Our message today is simple but powerful: rabies kills, but prevention saves lives.
The Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association, Kebbi State Chapter, remains committed to sensitizing the public and working with government and partners to eliminate rabies and other zoonotic diseases that threaten both animals and humans.
Your Excellency, we use this opportunity to sincerely appreciate you for your unwavering commitment to livestock development and public health in Kebbi State. The award presented to you today is a token of our gratitude.
The ongoing construction of the best veterinary hospital in West Africa, now at 90% completion, stands as a testament to your vision.
The modernization of the abattoir shows your dedication to food safety and the health of our people.
Your support for mass vaccination campaigns and livestock health programs cannot be overstated.
Sir, these investments go beyond livestock—they secure the health of our people, strengthen our economy, and safeguard future generations.
As we mark this year’s World Rabies Day, we call on everyone here to Act Now—You, Me, and our Community—by vaccinating pets and livestock, by raising awareness, and by supporting public health initiatives.
We, the NVMA Kebbi State Chapter, reaffirm our loyalty and readiness to partner with your administration through the Ministry of Livestock Development and Fisheries to ensure that Kebbi remains a shining example of excellence in animal health, food safety, and public health.
Together, with the support of government, traditional leaders, professionals, and the public, we can achieve a Kebbi State free of rabies and safer for all.
Thank you, Your Excellency. May God continue to bless Kebbi State and Nigeria
