Today is World Hepatitis Day

Hepatitis means inflammation of the liver. The liver is a vital organ that processes nutrients, filters the blood, and fights infections.

When the liver is inflamed or damaged, its function can be affected. Heavy alcohol use, toxins, some medications, and certain medical conditions can cause hepatitis. However, hepatitis is often caused by a virus. In the United States, the most common types of viral hepatitis are hepatitis A, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C.

Many people with hepatitis do not have symptoms and do not know they are infected. If symptoms occur with an acute infection, they can appear anytime from 2 weeks to 6 months after exposure.

Symptoms of acute hepatitis can include fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dark urine, light-colored stools, joint pain, and jaundice. Symptoms of chronic viral hepatitis can take decades to develop.

How do you know you have Hepatitis? Visit a Licensed Medical Laboratory today and get tested. Get vaccinated of you are negative or see a doctor for treatment if you are positive.

Misdiagnosis sends Patients to early graves.

Over the years, there have been several instances where patients have been wrongly diagnosed of one disease or the other, while the real cause of their illnesses slowly kills them. At one instance, a man had cancer but was being treated of Pneumonia. By the time doctors got to know he had cancer, it had spread to various organs and he later died. This could have been avoided if the right diagnosis was made on time.

The major causes of misdiagnosis are; quackery, substandard facilities, substandard kits and reagents, lack of quality assurance and poor regulation.

On The Scientist's BENCH , we always emphasize that you visit only licensed Medical laboratories manned by qualified medical laboratory scientists for your tests (See attached photos) and save your lives.

Dear Ladies,
About 12000 women are diagnosed of Cervical cancer every year. Over 7900 die of cervical cancer every year.

The main cause of Cervical cancer is Human Papilloma virus (HPV) infection. This virus alters the cells of the cervix and causes cancer.

Not all HPV infections result in Cervical cancer. A Pap Smear or Pap test is done to determine if the cells around the cervix are abnormal or precancerous.

HPV is sexually transmitted. Sexually active females should screen for HPV at least once every three years.
Visit a licensed medical laboratory today to check yourselves.
