10 STEPS TO HANDLE HURT, PAINS AND ANGER From the story of The Determined Bird.
After five days of hard work, a small bird proudly completed her dream home—a beautifully crafted three-bedroom apartment nest atop a neighbor's GoTV antenna. The bird filled the home with her belongings and celebrated with a joyous night party, chirping and dancing with other invited guests. But her happiness disrupted the human neighbor’s sleep, and by morning, the neighbor angrily destroyed the bird’s nest, scattering its contents on the ground because she never knew how long it took the bird to build, only myself that watches the steps and action each day can tell.
When the bird returned to find her five days of labor undone, she was devastated. She cried and called out for help, but none of the other birds could rebuild the nest—they had their own families to care for. Alone and heartbroken, the bird spent the day mourning. As night fell, she made an important decision: to rise above her pain and build again, this time with wisdom.
She took action, learning from her past mistakes. She sought a safer, quieter place where humans would not be disturbed. With determination and faith, she began the process anew, creating a new nest that was even better than the last one. The bird’s lifestyle and determination is what will be teaching us lessons about handling pain and building resilience.
10 Scriptural Steps to Handle Hurt Like the Bird
Here are the steps the bird took, with simple explanations :
1. Face the Pain and Let It Out: The bird mourned and cried for her loss.
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3)
2. Understand the Root Cause: She discovered why her nest was destroyed.
“Wisdom is supreme; therefore, get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.” (Proverbs 4:7)
3. Forgive and Let Go: She chose forgiveness over bitterness.
“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance.” (Colossians 3:13)
4. Stop Dwelling on the Past: She didn’t stay near her wrecked nest but looked ahead.
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.” (Isaiah 43:18)
5. Seek Support and Counsel: Other birds showed her concern, giving her encouragement.
“Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.” (Proverbs 15:22)
6. Learn and Strategize: She carefully planned to avoid repeating her mistakes.
“Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.” (Proverbs 16:3)
7. Work Hard and Start Again: She built her new nest with determination.
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.” (Colossians 3:23)
8. Maintain Hope and Faith: She believed in her ability to rebuild.
“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.” (Isaiah 40:31)
9. Celebrate Progress: Every step of rebuilding was a victory.
“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
10. Build Wisely on a Strong Foundation: She built her nest in a safer, quieter spot.
“The wise man builds his house upon the rock.” (Matthew 7:24)
Hold on not to any hurt, pains and anger, they have nothing good to offer but to destroy joy.
May the Lord be there to help our hearts.
