We thank God, Princess Udoito is hale and hearty.

Our Princess God’sown Udoito is hale and hearty. She is in very good spirits.

My wife had insisted that she must hold hands with her in prayer. So, in the company of her lawyer, Akpadiaha Ebitu, the Union's Legal Adviser, Peter Ime Akpan; my wife and I visited her today at the Medium Security Correctional Centre in Uyo and we prayed with her.

We had the opportunity to convey to her the good wishes of all Ekid people and our prayers for her good mind and good health. For, we all know that she is bearing the cross and burden of custody as a sacrifice to us all, including our children yet unborn.

Ekid and the Union, under our leadership today, or under any other leadership in the future, would not take this sacrifice for granted.

Princess has agreed with us that the custody is for the long haul. Only God can say otherwise. That's why we are here to pray with her, and we enjoin all to remember to pray for her.

At this moment , we are grateful to all committed men of God, who continue to plead, intercede, and wish in all honesty, for a peaceful resolution of this regrettable impasse.

One day, God willing, and without prejudice, our Princess would be free.

𝗔 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗿 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝘂𝗲𝗹 𝗨𝗱𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗮𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗸𝗶𝗱 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽.

Dear Dr. Samuel Udonsak,

After sleeping over it, I write to you with deep respect, concern, and a profound sense of responsibility to the future of Ekid Nation.

Recent calls by Comrade Peter Buhari and others urging you to resign your position as President of the Ekid People’s Union (EPU) in order to contest the 2027 House of Representatives election have stirred serious reflection among well-meaning sons and daughters of Ekid. While such calls are genuine with good intensions and may appear flattering on the surface, I humbly submit that yielding to this pressure may not serve your personal integrity nor the collective interest of our people.

First, the political reality on ground cannot be ignored. There are influential Ekid sons currently embedded within the APC government structure in Akwa Ibom State who, for reasons of personal survival and loyalty to their political benefactors, may actively work against your electoral success. It is widely understood that in a truly free and fair contest, your credibility, track record, and grassroots acceptance would give you a clear advantage. Unfortunately, the process is unlikely to be left to fairness.

Secondly, these same actors may prioritize their individual political interests (2031) over the unity and advancement of Ekid Nation. In their bid to “deliver” their constituencies as directed by their political paymasters, they may undermine not just your candidacy but the broader aspirations of Ekid people. This creates a dangerous scenario where Ekid’s collective progress is sacrificed on the altar of personal gain.

Thirdly, the growing menace of vote buying poses a grave threat to credible leadership. The harsh economic realities facing many of our people have made the electorate increasingly vulnerable. In such a climate, financial inducements may override conscience and credibility at the polls, tilting the outcome in favor of those with deeper pockets rather than those with genuine capacity to serve.

Furthermore, your strength as a leader is well recognized, not only within Ekid but beyond. It is precisely this strength that may provoke fierce resistance from political opponents and adversaries of Ekid Nation.

There is a real risk that the electoral process could be deliberately compromised to frustrate your efforts, tarnish your image, and diminish the hard-earned respect you currently command. In the worst-case scenario, disruptions such as the non-conduct of elections in certain areas could be orchestrated, leaving your reputation vulnerable to unfair judgment.

Your current position as President of EPU and a frontline leader of Ibibio Nation, places you on a higher pedestal, one that commands honor, neutrality, and enduring influence. From this vantage point, you are better positioned to champion the Ekid cause, unite our people, and provide strategic leadership without the distractions and uncertainties of partisan politics.

Experience has shown me that the world is often kinder to those who preserve their integrity and choose legacy over ambition. You have built a name that resonates with dignity, courage, and commitment to Ekid Nation. It is my earnest appeal that you protect this legacy and continue to serve our people from the esteemed position you currently occupy.

Your foray into the governorship race in Akwa Ibom State was not an act of ambition, but one of patriotism and sacrifice. It is on record that you were frustrated from within by entrenched interests who feared your vision. Sadly, what should be celebrated as courage and commitment to public service is now being twisted and used as a tool of mockery by a tyranic opportunist in government House. The same people of yesterday will want to play the game again.

Ekid Nation needs your leadership, now more than ever.

The President General of Ekid People’s Union (EPU), Dr. Samuel Udonsak, has used the dedication of his granddaughter to firmly reaffirm his deep-rooted connection to Eket, countering claims that he resides permanently outside Akwa Ibom State.

The dedication service of Little Miss Zayelle Uwana-abasi Udonsak held at Qua Iboe Church, Afaha Eket, on April 5, 2026, turned into a powerful statement of identity, family values, and unwavering attachment to home.

Speaking during the ceremony, Dr. Udonsak dismissed insinuations about his place of residence, clarifying that he spends about 85 percent of his time in Akwa Ibom State, despite owning a private hospital in Rivers State. He emphasized that Eket remains his only true home.

To further underscore this point, the EPU President noted that the choice of Qua Iboe Church, Afaha Eket, for the dedication of his first grandchild was deliberate and symbolic.
“I insisted that my first grandchild would be dedicated here because I have a sentimental attachment to this church,” he said.

He recalled the role the church played during the burial of his father, who was interred within the church premises, stressing that the bond remains unbroken.

“There are certain things I can’t do because my father is buried here,” he added, noting that his personal values and integrity are closely tied to his roots.
The event was marked by an outpouring of goodwill as Dr. Udonsak celebrated his son, Mr. Joseph Udonsak, and his wife, praising their humility and peaceful disposition, which he said reflect the joy of fulfilled parenthood and grandparenthood.

The well-attended service drew prominent personalities from across Akwa Ibom State, including the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mkpisong Frank Archibong; the Executive Chairman of Eket Local Government Area, Mkpisong Akan Tommey; Senator representing Eket Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Ekong Sampson; Member representing Esit Eket/Ibeno State Constituency, Hon. Engr. Friday Udobia Udo; and the Paramount Ruler of Eket, HRM Edidem E. C. D. Abia.

Others in attendance were the Secretary General of Ekid People’s Union, Barr. Bassey Dan Abia; Prof. Etie Ben Akpan; Barr. Inam Wilson, SAN; President of Akwa Ibom Community, Abuja, Barr. Gabriel Fan; alongside several stakeholders, professionals, and community leaders.

Traditional rulers, members of Mbong Mbaba Ekid, sociocultural groups, and medical practitioners also graced the occasion, reflecting the significance of the event.

The celebration later moved to Eket City Hall on Uqua Road, where a grand reception was held in honour of the child, drawing dignitaries from across the state.

Beyond a family celebration, the event served as a strong personal and cultural statement by Dr. Udonsak, one that reinforces his enduring bond with Eket and dispels doubts about where he truly belongs.
