*STEP BY STEP PROCESS OF BECOMING A UNITED KINGDOM REGISTERED NURSE/MIDWIFE (UKRN/UKRM)*

▪️Get an international passport

▪️ Preferably, write and pass IELTS/OET before starting the process as it is presumed to be the most challenging of all. However, you can choose to write it at any point in the application before submitting your final documents.
▫️IELTS (about # 270,000-290,000)* - Minimum Of Listening-7.0, Writing- 6.5, Reading- 7.0, Speaking- 7.0 and Overall - 7.0 .
▫️ Occupation English Test (OET, it is about # *640,000* depending on current exchange rate) -
Minimum of Reading - B, Writing - C+, Listening - B, Speaking- B.

▪️Open an online account with NMC UK.

▪️Pay £140.. *Equivalent in Naira depends on the current exchange rate*
You will receive a confirmatory email for the payment With your *application reference number* .
You'll have a personalized *NMC UK* portal through which you can monitor your progress all through the whole registration process.

▪️ Apply for NMCN verification and pay #69,500

You'll receive a confirmation email for your payment with a unique verification reference number and a link to redirect you to the verification page.

▪️Wait to be verified and get an authorization to test email from Pearson (the organization that handles the CBT exam) to book CBT.
Book the CBT *(£83* ..... *Depending on exchange rate* ) @ https://wsr.pearsonvue.com/testtaker/signin/SignInPage/NMC?locale=en_US and write the exam. ( You have a validity of at least 2 years to write both the CBT and OSCE after receiving mail from the Pearson Vue to test otherwise you'll need to start all over)

▪️After you've passed the CBT, complete the final form by NMC UK which includes an upload of Health evidence, Character Evidence(Police clearance certificate), Language evidence(IELTS/OET or Work place reference if you have worked in Care sector for one year in the UK), *(without these documents, you can't progress beyond this stage and you must have the expected bands) among others.*

▪️Pay the final registration fee of £153 to NMC UK. This is needed so that you can get your pin from NMC UK (this pin is more like a license to practice).

▪️ You can start looking for a job at any stage but preferably, start searching for jobs after you must have passed CBT and IELTS/OET. You can either get an agent or apply directly for jobs in National Health Service (NHS) hospitals on
▪️https://beta.jobs.nhs.uk/candidate/auth/login
▪️https://apps.trac.jobs/index?_ts=1
▪️ng.indeed.com
https://ng.indeed.com

But for care homes, apply on
▪️https://www.carehome.co.uk.
The benefits for care home vs NHS vary, choosing one depends on what you want and try researching on both before making a choice.
Generally, care homes are believed to pay more but NHS hospitals are better for career advancement. Alternatively, you can send emails (cold mails) to some trusts and/or care homes to show interest in working for them.

▪️After getting an offer you are comfortable with (the *"comfortable with"* is very important), sign the offer letter and send your documents to the trust. Do not sign more than one offer though you can have more than one *(max should be 3 please, don't go beyond that as we are trying not to cause problems for others).* Note that when you apply directly, you might have to fund your visa and ticket yourself while you get a refund on getting to the UK (this isn't always the case though), agents on the other hand pay for these upfront. Just ensure you read your offer letter well to know what the trust is offering. The choice is all yours to make at the end of the day. You might have to try both actually, as getting offers isn't as easy as before due to the backlogs Covid19 has caused including the red list.

▪️Wait for a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) by the trust (this replaces bank statements other direct visa applicants have to submit). It shows you have a sponsor that will support your stay in the UK. This CoS also contains an employment start date. Ensure you don't have more than one trust processing this for you as it is quite expensive which makes it unfair for the trusts and it can cause problems for you with the home office.

▪️ Discuss with the trust and book your visa and subsequently, your flight ticket.
At this point, you will need a valid tuberculosis test book online
▪️https://mymedical.iom.int/
at about # *144 9000for adult and #23,120 for children* with 6 months validity) or via other test centres (source for link);
And police clearance (with 3 months validity between # *30,000 #50,000)* either online
▪️https://possap.gov.ng using the step by step guide or via any of the police officers *who is reliable*

▪️The final stage is writing your OSCE (This can only be done in the UK). You will get your pin (license) to practice on passing this. Most trusts train nurses for this exam, ensure you check your offer letter well and clarify this.

Note- You will get to the UK as a pre-registration nurse and will be placed on salary band 3-4. On passing your OSCE, you'll automatically become a band 5 nurse.

Rhesus Negative women should be careful with criminal abortion.

Criminal abortion is a type of abortion involving the delibrate expulsion of the product of conception (the fetus in the womb) without medical reasons.

When a rhesus Negative woman meets with a rhesus positive woman and there is conception of a Rh+ fetus, the blood of the Rh+ fetus can get into the bloodstream of a Rh- woman. Her body will recognize that the Rh+ blood is not hers, therefore, it will try to destroy it by making Rh antibodies.

When an abortion is done illegally, they dont usually check the rhesus factors of both the fetus and the mother, therefore, the Rogam injection which was supposed to be given to prevent antibody formation will be missed.

After the successful abortion, she might not be able to carry baby to term again. Hence leading to infertility 🤷‍♀️

Please take care of your health and don't accuse your village people.😁

Some men mostly put the blames of infertility on their partner, becoming ignorant of the fact that delay in achieving conception can be from both or even solely on the man.

The issue of infertility do not discriminate rather it is an even playing field. Therefore, it is of great importance we understand that infertility affect both men and women equally.

There are plethora of reasons why couples delay in achieving conception, which are ranging from natural to environmental and as well as medical causes.

It can be natural because some couples who are medically and environmentally fit still have delay for up to a year. Let's say it is Idiopathic 🤷

Men contribute to infertility by these ways 👇
👌 Reduced amount of healthy s***m. The s***m is not qualified enough to fertilize the egg.
👌 Previous poorly or untreated infections like STIs, gonorrhoea and chronic illness.
👌 Some operations that may block the passage of s***m like vasectomy.
👌 Use of some drugs.
👌 Stress. Stress and anxiety also affects the quality of s***m, and ej*******on thus conception might be delayed.
To mention but a few

Female causes are as follows 👇
👌 inappropriate timing of ovulation. As egg is being released during ovulation, trial outside few days before or few days after will be useless
👌 Improper hygiene as in douching can ulter the PH of the va**nal, this can make the movement of s***m impaired.
👌 Birth control method. Method like shots (depo provera) delays return of ovulation and this will as well delay conception
👌Age. This is not just applicable to female but to the male as well. Your chances of becoming pregnant decreases by age especially in mid 30s and drops rapidly after age 37.
👌 Untreated or underlying medical issues like irregular menstruation, thyroid disorder, obesity, endometriosis and PCOS etc affects your ability to conceive.
👌 Uterine issues. Consistent intake of pills can cause uterine issues. This affects the lining of your uterus making it difficult to retain a fetus
👌Blocked tubes. Block tubes cannot allow s***m to pass through to the ampulla where fertilization takes place, this can be as a result of infections, surgery, PID etc.
👌 Lifestyle cause: like poor diet, obesity, smoking and excessive drinking can cause infertility.

To be on a safer side,🫶
✌️ Go for regular medical checkup
✌️ Treat medical problems properly
✌️ Take folic acid
✌️ Learn and track your menstrual cycle always
✌️ Consume proper diet
✌️ Maintain healthy lifestyle and watch your weight

If no headway after so much trial, sort for a fertility specialist who can work with you to maximize your chances.
DO NOT GIVE UP👍

Acne is a common skin problem that causes pimples which are seen on the face, neck, shoulders, chest and back.

It is as a result of the skin oils, dead skin cells and bacteria clogging the hair follicles.

The skin has a tiny hole called PORES, and each pore opens to a follicle. These hair follicles are been blocked and with bacteria infestation, they produce pimples that may contain pus.

Acne is mostly caused by build up of dead skin cells and bacteria. However, there are factors that put you at risk of having Acne like:

✍️ Excessive oil (Sebum)
✍️ Hormonal problems. Especially among teenagers
✍️ Polycystic Ovarian syndrome (PCOS)
✍️ Applying greasy makeup
✍️ Some medications like birth control pills
✍️ Bacteria - regular touching of the face
✍️ Dirty pillow case
✍️ Stress and anxiety
✍️ Sweets and starchy foods

Acnes can be treated naturally or medically
The natural treatment are;
✌️ Washing off twice daily
✌️ Use of Alo vera
✌️ Use of honey mask
✌️ Avoid touching your face
✌️ Do not pick and pop the pimples
✌️ Avoid greasy makeup
✌️ Stay hydrated and eat healthy
✌️ Always remove makeup before bed
✌️ Refrain from harsh scrubbing

Medically, you can visit a dermatologist if the natural method persists.
Medications can be used to treat acne.😊

Polycystic Ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a major problem of women of child bearing age.

It is a condition in which the ovaries produce higher amounts of male s*x hormones (androgen) which was supposed to be in small amount.

As the name implies, it is a numerous small cysts (fluid-filled sacs) that form in the ovaries.
Sometimes, women with this disorder don't have cyst, therefore it is not a general sign of PCOS.

When a woman do not produce enough hormone to ovulate, ovulation doesn't happen. I.e release of egg from the o***y.
The o***y tends to develop many small cysts causing the release of the male s*x hormone androgen.
This hormone disrupts the menstrual cycle.

WHAT CAN CAUSE PCOS
The cause of PCOS is unknown, however, there are factors that can lead to PCOS such as;
✌️ Insulin resistance. When your cells can't use insulin properly, they become excess and this can make the ovaries produce more of male s*x hormones.
✌️ Genes. PCOS runs in the family
✌️ Obesity

WHAT ARE THE SIGNS THAT YOU HAVE PCOS
👉 Irregular periods
👉 Cysts in the ovaries
👉 Heavy bleeding
👉 Hair growth on face and body
👉 Acne
👉 Weight gain
👉 Dark skin patches on the back of the neck, armpit, and under breast
👉 Infertility

COMPLICATIONS
PCOS can lead to some health issues like:
🩸 Infertility. When you don't ovulate, fertilization becomes difficult.
🩸 Increased risk of High Blood Pressure and High Blood sugar which can cause diabetes, heart disease and stroke.
🩸 Sleep Apnea
🩸 Depression
🩸 Uterine cancer

LIFESTYLE MODIFICATIONS FOR PCOS
They are lifestyle tips people living with PCOS can adopt to
✍️ Engaging in more physical activities to reduce weight. This can prevent obesity
✍️ Change in diet. Eat proper and healthy diet
✍️ Treat Acne with a dermatologist
✍️ Speak with your doctor. Medical treatment for PCOS depends on age, symptoms you have and your plans for pregnancy i.e if you want to get pregnant or not.

Having PCOS should not affect your daily activities. You can still get pregnant if you wish. Your doctor can help on the best ways to achieve that.👍

CAUSES OF BREAST SAGGING (PTOSIS)
There is this misconception that breast sagging is as a result of sucking of the breast among young women.
The degree of breast PTOSIS depends on many factors ranging from size, genetics, lifestyle and others.
Here are some of the major factors that causes PTOSIS.

✍️ Older age:
As a woman gets older, the ligaments that makes up the breast tissue stretches and looses its elasticity. Thus, the breast tends to sag.

✍️ Gravitational pull:
This happens to women with larger breast size and high body mass index. Gravity tends to pull down the breast.

✍️ Pregnancy:
Pregnancy hormonal changes shrink and expand milk ducts with each pregnancy. Breast size also changes during pregnancy and makes the breast to sag.

✍️Genetics:
Breast size, shape and colour vary from person to person and can be inherited from gene. Although through the course of a woman's life, her breast will constantly change and develop.

✍️ Bad posture:
Bad posture such as having a hunched or bent back can make the breast hang by their own weight.

✍️ Lifestyle:
Rapid weight loss and weight gain affects the sizes of the breast. The fluctuations can make them sag.

✍️ Smoking:
Carcinogens in ci******es smoke causes the elastin to break down in the body.
Likewise over exposure to UV Ray's.

✍️ Extreme and strenuous exercise can cause the breast tissues to break down.

✍️ Lack of proper support.

Know these and know peace✌️

Yours Sincerely,
❤️

Vaginal discharge is normal and varies during your menstrual cycle. However, the colour of your discharges says alot and the ability to decipher makes you in charge of your health.✌️

What are these colours?

✍️ Clear or white
Clear or white discharge is a normal va**nal discharge which comes mostly at the beginning and at the end of your cycle.
However, when it becomes thicker alongside itchy it can be an indication of a yeast infection.

✍️ Clear and stretchy
This colour and texture of discharge is usually seen when you are ovulating. This is absolutely normal.😊

✍️ Red or Dark red 🩸
This is your period. Most a time, at the beginning of your period the blood is darker and looks dirty and subsequently becomes red and more brighter; this is as a result of an old blood from the last menstrual period. It is normal😊

✍️ Brown
This colour of discharge may happen right after your period as your body is cleaning out your va**na.

✍️ Yellow, grey or green
This colour of discharge may suggest a bacteria or s*xually transmitted infection. It can be thick or clumpy like cottage cheese or even with a foul odour.😟

✍️ Spotting blood
Spotting may occur mid-cycle or when you are ovulating. It can also be a sign of pregnancy as implantational bleeding.
When it happens at the time of your normal flow and you have had an unprotected s*x earlier, take a pregnancy test.
Spotting during early pregnancy can be a sign of miscarriage.

Contact your health provider if your va**nal discharge changes colour or texture, or is accompanied by other symptoms like foul odour, itching and burning sensation.
