✂️ When Is an Episiotomy Needed? 🤰

An episiotomy is a small cut made in the perineum (area between the va**na and a**s) to help with childbirth. It’s not always needed—but in some situations, doctors may recommend it.

🔹 👶 Baby in distress – If your baby needs to be delivered quickly.
🔹 🧠 Head is too large – When baby’s head can’t fit easily through.
🔹 ⚠️ Complicated delivery – If forceps or vacuum are used.
🔹 ⌛ Labor isn’t progressing – Especially during pushing stage.
🔹 📉 Tissues not stretching enough – To avoid severe natural tearing.

✅ Today, doctors use episiotomy only when truly necessary.
Always include this in your birth plan discussion with your OB.
