At Seizure Support Foundation, we be

Seizure Support Foundation is a non – for – profit, non – partisan, and non – governmental health and education based organization in Nigeria. We are passionate about the health and education of children with learning disabilities due to neurological disorders. We are dedicated to awareness creation & public enlightenment, education & training, research and advocacy. Seizure Support Foundation wor

ks to provide awareness and public enlightenment about neurological disorders in children; and how it affects their development and learning disabilities. Neurological disorders like Epilepsy, Infantile spasms, Autism Spectrum Disorder and Cerebral Palsy are grossly misunderstood especially in Low and Middle Income Countries like Nigeria. This has lead to widespread discrimination, stigmatization, marginalization and inequalities against affected children. Through our weekly podcasts and media programs, we seek to spark up conversations that will ultimately impact and change negative societal attitutes towards persons with neurological disorders. The goal is to build a World Class Development Center that will provide educational solutions to special children, special educators and schools. Seizure Support Foundation is passionate about educating children who have developed learning disabilities due to previous or on – going neurological disorder. We believe that every child has a right to basic quality education, regardless of any learning disability. Consequently, the Seizure Disorder & Learning Disability special scholarship initiative was launched early 2022 to help special awardees with their learning experience using novel and supportive teaching methods and best practices. Our bootcamps are designed to train children in basic life and survival skills; where they are taught basic hygiene, sanitary practices, arts and crafts (pic)

Seizure Support Foundation believes that data – driven and evidence – based advocacy model is one of the most effective ways of influencing both health and education based legislation. Therefore, our organization is embarking on a first – of – its – kind prevalence study in order to estimate the numbers and the burden of neurological disorders and leraning disabilities in children living in Enugu. We plan to use this data to constructively sensitize law makers in our advocacy campaigns. This is to ensure that the wide gap in education inequalities between children with learning disabilities and their cunterparts is significantly reduced by implementimg and domesticating the Special Education Policy of Nigeria in the State. Seizure Support Foundation conducts periodic Special Education Teacher Training Programs that train educators on best practices and online packages available to help the children with their learning experiences. We empower teachers with the knowledge, attitudes and technical know – how necessary for impacting special children positively.

Imagine if 1 in every 3 Nigerians knew how to perform CPR when someone collapses or has a heart attack.
Imagine if a trained first responder was right there to step in before help arrives.

This is the future we are building.
We’re raising a generation that doesn’t stand by and watch emergencies… they respond.

The Seizure Support Foundation is turning bystanders into first responders—one training at a time.

Severe bleeding — tourniquet use

🚫 WHAT NOT TO DO
❌ Don’t use a tourniquet for minor bleeding—start with firm direct pressure first
❌ Don’t place it over a joint (elbow/knee) or directly on a wound
❌ Don’t apply loosely—ineffective and dangerous
❌ Don’t cover or hide it under clothing—keep it visible
❌ Don’t remove or loosen it once applied (unless by trained medical personnel)
❌ Don’t delay calling for help while “figuring it out”

✅ WHAT TO DO
✔️ Call for help/emergency services immediately
✔️ Apply firm direct pressure—if bleeding is severe and won’t stop, use a tourniquet
✔️ Place the tourniquet 5–7 cm (2–3 inches) above the wound (between wound and heart)
✔️ If the wound is near a joint, place it above the joint (closer to the torso)
✔️ Tighten until bleeding completely stops (not just slows)
✔️ Secure it in place—no slipping, no loosening
✔️ Note the time it was applied (write it down or tell responders)
✔️ Leave it visible and monitor the person until help arrives

💡 Goal: Stop life-threatening bleeding fast. A correctly applied tourniquet can save a life.

Here’s another opportunity to be part of that movement.
One skill can turn you from a bystander into a lifesaver.
Seizure First Aid. CPR. Real-life action.

DO NOT do these (very important)
❌ Do NOT cut the wound
❌ Do NOT suck out venom
❌ Do NOT apply a tourniquet
❌ Do NOT apply ice
❌ Do NOT give alcohol or caffeine

DO these
✅️Get the patient to a hospital as quickly as possible
✅️Keep them still during transport. Movement spreads venom faster through the body
✅️Keep the bitten limb still (use sling/splint if possible)
Position at or slightly below heart level
✅️Remove rings, watches, tight clothing before swelling starts
