The Executive Secretary, Office of the Governor, Enugu State Agency for the Control of AIDS (ENSACA), Dr. Mrs. Ritta Emeh Rita , has held a 2026 New Year meeting with staff to formally set the tone for the year’s activities.
Speaking during the meeting, Dr. Mrs. Emeh stated that although work had already commenced, the New Year gathering was important to realign staff and reinforce the values of dedication, accountability, and professionalism. She welcomed all members of staff and urged them to remain focused, committed, and disciplined in the discharge of their duties.
She emphasized that all events of the previous year should be regarded as bygones, stressing that 2026 represents a fresh start.
According to her, every staff member must take their work seriously, warning that anyone who fails to do the right thing should expect a formal query, which would be documented in the individual’s personal file.
Dr. Mrs. Emeh further explained that she intends to use the year to properly organize the office, noting that she assumed office late in the previous year, towards its end. She expressed her resolve to ensure a more structured, effective, and well-organized working environment going forward.
She commended Mrs. Vivian Abugu, Head of Administration, who oversees administrative operations, for her dedication and hard work, describing her as a person sent by God to support the leadership and make administrative work easier. She prayed for God’s continued blessings upon her for her commitment.
Addressing the support staff, the Executive Secretary encouraged them to remain diligent and committed while awaiting approval from the Governor for a possible salary increment. She stressed that despite the pending approval, staff should not relent in performing their duties faithfully.
Dr. Mrs. Emeh also issued a strong warning to the security personnel, particularly the gate men, to be more careful and responsible in handling office property. She expressed displeasure over an incident involving Mr. Ogbodo, a security staff, who reportedly lost a key. She questioned how a security officer entrusted with safeguarding property could be careless and stated that such negligence would not be tolerated going forward. She warned that any staff who loses office property would be made to pay for it.
Speaking on the issue of change, the Executive Secretary reminded staff that change is constant and inevitable. She noted that past practices may not necessarily continue, as leadership has the right to make changes when necessary, provided that work progresses smoothly and efficiently.
Head of Administration, Mrs. Vivian Abugu, also addressed staff, urging them to always do the right thing, resume work early, and comply with office regulations to avoid sanctions. She further advised the security personnel to be vigilant and responsible at all times.
During the interaction, she asked Mr. Ogbodo how many people live with him in his residence. He responded that a woman and her daughter live with him. The Executive Secretary subsequently requested that this information be documented in writing for official records.
In his remarks, the Head of Program, Mr. Martin, advised the support staff to remain committed to their duties, particularly by ensuring that offices are kept clean and orderly, noting the possibility of an official visit or inspection by the Head of Service.
The meeting concluded with a shared understanding that the year 2026 would be driven by discipline, accountability, teamwork, and renewed commitment to service.
