TOPIC: GODLY CHARACTER – A LADDER TO THE TOP
SCRIPTURE: Daniel purposed in his heart that he will not defile himself with a portion of the king's meat.
DANIEL 1:8
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: If you want to fly high in life, you must embrace Godly character.
It has been established that one major quality of the eagle is character. The eagle is a bird that exists at the top range of life; it flies beyond 3000 feet above sea level.
This means, one quality that is required for existence at the top, like the eagle, is the quality of character, good (Godly) character.
Isaiah 40: 31 says,
They that wait on the Lord, they shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint.
The eagle is known for mounting up; it is known for existence at the top. So, the strength of the eagle, among other things, is the strength of character.
People who fly high in life are people of positive character. A good example was Joseph.
Concerning Joseph, Genesis 42:18 says,
And Joseph said unto them the third day, This do, and live; for I fear God:
We can see that Joseph clearly stated that he feared God. That is Godly character.
Another high flyer in Scripture who showed the quality of godly character was Daniel.
Daniel 1:8 says,
Daniel purposed in his heart that he will not defile himself with a portion of the king's meat.
Daniel upheld Godly character by refusing to be defiled.
Apart from Joseph and Daniel, Job was another high flyer in Scripture who maintained Godly character.
Job 1:1 says, There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.
Job lived an upright life and his domain in life was the top.
The lesson from all these, is: if you want to fly high in life, you must embrace Godly character. Godly character is the ladder that takes people to the top in life.
Remember this: If you want to fly high in life, you must embrace Godly character.
ASSIGNMENT:
1. Study the positive attitude and lifestyle of high flyers, both in Scripture and in contemporary times.
2. Make up your mind to embrace Godly character.
PRAYER: Thank You Lord for Your Word to me today. I receive the grace to imbibe Godly character so I can fly high in life, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
