"The Power of Emptying"
Palm Sunday Reflection

Today, we remember Jesus’ triumphant entry — riding not on a war horse, but on a humble donkey.
Crowds shouted, “Hosanna!” laying down their cloaks and palm branches, but here’s the deeper truth:

> Jesus came down, not to take, but to give.
He emptied Himself, so we could be filled ____~Rev. Fr Clement Apeior

This is the King of kings… stepping into Jerusalem not to be crowned by man, but to be crushed for man.
He gave up His glory to take our shame.
He gave up His position to offer us purpose.
He gave up His power… to empower us.

Sometimes, before you can be filled, you must first be emptied.
— Emptied of pride.
— Emptied of fear.
— Emptied of self-will.
— Emptied of the need to control your own story.

Jesus showed us a principle that unlocks destiny:

> The path to glory is paved in humility.
The way up begins with stepping down.

And just like Jesus entered Jerusalem on a donkey — lowly, yet destined — you may look ordinary now… but what you carry will change lives.
You’re not called to impress — you’re called to impact.

So here’s the prayer today:

> “Lord, empty me of me. Break my need to be seen. Strip away everything that blocks your flow in me.
Fill me with Your presence, Your power, and Your purpose — so I too can carry something holy into this world.”

Because just like Jesus…

When you choose to empty yourself,
God will fill you with something the world can’t ignore.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

As we are about to begin a new week, I want to encourage you with the words of Romans 8:31: "What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?"

These words remind us of the truth that no matter what challenges we may face, we have a God who is for us and who is greater than any obstacle that comes our way. We serve a God who is powerful and loving, and who has a plan for our lives.

As you go about your week, I want to encourage you to take hold of this truth and to trust in the Lord. He is with you and He is working all things together for your good. Remember that you are not alone, and that you have the power of the Holy Spirit within you to guide and sustain you.

I also want to remind you of the unique calling that God has placed on your life. Each one of us has been called to be a light in the world, shining the love and truth of Jesus to those around us. As you go about your week, be mindful of the opportunities you have to be a blessing to others and to share the hope that you have in Christ.

May the week be marked by a sense of hope and purpose as you trust in the Lord and seek to fulfill the unique calling He has placed on your life. Amen.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

I am glad to announce that the Healing Centre Ministry in Gboko will be resuming our weekly worship services this coming Friday, January 13th, 2023. It has been a long time since we have gathered together in person to worship and praise our Lord, and I am excited for the opportunity to come back together as family.

As we prepare to return to in-person services, I want to remind you of the importance of maintaining proper health and safety protocols. We want to do everything we can to keep each other safe and healthy.

I also want to encourage you to come with an open heart and a willingness to receive all that God has for us as we come back together. The Bible tells us in Psalm 100:4, "Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name." Let us approach this new season of worship with thanksgiving and praise, knowing that God is good and faithful, and that he has great things in store for us.

I look forward to seeing you all on Friday, and let us continue to pray for one another and for our church community.

Blessings,
[Prophetess Martha Shedrack]
