FINAL VALIDATION OF REVIEWED GODMA OPERATIONAL GUIDELINE

In its effort to strenghten the operations of GODMA and also spell out the the agencie's relationship with its Company Go-Pharma as well as gain expert opinion with respect to sactions to be metted on erring operators of the scheme, the validation committee took feedback and guidance from the State Solicitor General/PS Min of Justice who incidentally is a member of the GODMA Governing Board.

This one day activity marks the end of the validation excercise and the reviewed operational guideline will be made available to the operators of the scheme after securing approval of the GODMA Board.

*GODMA Board Retreat*

The Board of the Gombe State Drugs and Medical Consumables Management Agency (GODMA) convened a two-day retreat from 11th to 12th December, 2025 at Chartwell Hotel, Bauchi. The retreat was designed to strengthen the Board’s capacity in leadership, governance, financial management, and oversight, in line with GODMA’s board's oversight mandate to ensure effective management of drugs and medical consumables.

The retreat brought together Board members and top management staff to reflect, learn, and align on best practices for improved institutional performance.

Objectives of the Retreat include:

1. Enhance the leadership skills of Board members for effective strategic direction.

2. Deepen understanding of good governance principles and their application within GODMA.

3. Strengthen knowledge of public sector financial management, accountability, and control systems.

4. Clarify the roles and responsibilities of the Board in providing effective oversight of management and agency.

The sessions were facilitated by experienced consultants, who guided discussions using practical examples, interactive sessions, and case studies relevant to public sector agencies.

*Validation of the Reviewed GODMA Operational Guideline*

The validation exercise for the reviewed operational guideline of the Gombe State Drugs and Medical Consumables Management Agency (GODMA) was conducted on 8th and 9th December. The exercise was facilitated by the Review Committee under the leadership of the Executive Secretary, Pharm Abubakar Mohammed Hassan, with membership drawn from Members of GODMA Board, SMOH, SPHCDA, HSMB, GoHealth and GoPharma to ensure inclusiveness and institutional alignment. The objective of the validation was to critically examine the revised guideline to confirm its clarity, relevance, operational feasibility, and conformity with existing policies and best practices in pharmaceutical and supply chain management.

The validation process involved presentations of the reviewed sections of the guideline and followed by plenary discussions during which participants provided inputs, clarifications, and recommendations. Key operational areas were carefully examined, and consensus was reached on necessary adjustments to strengthen implementation, accountability, and efficiency. At the end of the exercise, the guideline was validated with agreed amendments, paving the way for final approval and adoption. The exercise demonstrated strong stakeholder commitment to improving GODMA’s operational effectiveness and ensuring efficient delivery of quality drugs and medical consumables across the state.
