How a Dynamic Ankle Foot Orthosis (DAFO) helps in healing Post-Burn Contracture of the Achilles Tendon:

1. Supports Proper Foot Positioning.
- The DAFO maintains the foot at a 90-degree angle, preventing the foot from pointing downward (equinus position), which can happen due to contracture.

2. Gradual Stretching.
- By keeping the foot in this position, the DAFO gently stretches the tight or shortened Achilles tendon over time, promoting flexibility and preventing further contracture.

3. Prevents Re-contracture.
- During the healing process, the DAFO keeps the ankle and foot in a stable position, reducing the risk of re-contracture as the skin and tissue recover.

4. Promotes Mobility.
- The orthosis allows controlled movement, enabling patients to gradually regain mobility without putting excessive strain on the healing tendon.

5. Reduces Pain and Discomfort.
- By supporting the Achilles tendon, the DAFO reduces pain and discomfort associated with tightness and tension, allowing for more comfortable movement.

6. Encourages Proper Healing.
- Ensures the tendon heals in the correct length and alignment, minimizing complications and promoting a more complete recovery.

7. Enhances Rehabilitation.
- The DAFO can be part of a rehabilitation program, helping patients regain function, balance, and confidence in walking post-injury.
