In championing health equity, we must pay attention to the well-being of the farmers who cultivate our food.

Farmers are vital to the health of our planet, and their own health and wellness directly impact ours.

Farmers endure long hours, strenuous labor, and exposure to chemicals and other hazards. They also face financial stress and mental health challenges.

FARMERS’ HEALTH MATTER - let's ensure they have the resources and support they need to stay healthy. πŸŒΎπŸ§‘β€πŸŒΎ

POEM
GIFT TO THE TROUBLED SOUL
In the shadows of despair, the world feels heavy.
Alone amidst the storms of thoughts, a pebble frailing by the tempest,
The eyes dim to the ray of hope, yet the world seems untouched by the morse.
I sobbed and shrugged, with my grip firm on the pick.

Life's journey is a maze, often vague as a whisper in the wind.
Hassle and puddle with no cease, makes me see why it is nothing but a whiz.
My heavy woes in sight, what wise would this flicker of light within appraise?
But, why should I end my precious life, over trials that can be seen as small blips?
For there must be a reason, a purpose to my existence, a lesson to be learned.

Over my weary gaze, I notice a gentle breeze,
Nature's soothing touch reminds me of beauty of grace.
Through hardships and pain, I've survived before,
The creator had been by my side, guiding me, and opening countless doors.

I had loved each sunrise and sunset, howbeit my hardships made me blind.
In the smiles of loved ones, and moments I'll never forget,
I thought, why the tears, as hope begins to bloom.
A glimmer of gratitude, dispelling the gloom.

Loud within my chest, I make a vow.
With every breath I take, goes the burden of my despair,
I surrender to the universe, trusting in the loving care of its maker.
I embrace the gift of life, with a renewed sense of purpose,
Ready to face each day with gratitude and embrace the surface.
No longer shackled by darkness, I spread my wings and fly,
For life's blessings await, and I'm ready to soar high.

Recent literature had begun featuring this new form of stigma which must have existed quietly over years, yet, maybe had remained undiscovered due to the category of the people in talk, i.e., health professionals. Precisely, it is a level of stigma experienced by patients with health workers, and could not be untraceable to the strong infiltration of social stigma in the discharge of their duties, afterall, they also emanate from the society. It is noteworthy that the society (of common people, i.e., business persons, political workers, and others) is fundamentally the breeding ground of stigma and indirectly su***de.
Several concerns may be attributed to the reason for stigma in the society, but a major one is being judgemental. Stigma is often a case of what the society strongly believes is wrong or condemnable, and undeserving of a person in that particular geography. This can be in connection with the esteemed values of a society. For example in some cultures and religions in western Nigeria, getting pregnant out of wedlock is a critical issue that is so much detested, regardless of the age of the lady, because it is believed that she must have been engaging in undue affairs with several men, including married men who rightly belong to other women. In such cases, the person and her family become a victim of stigma having violated society's standards.
Truly, every society has basic norms that it esteems, but how well do they give allowances for unprecedented cases or occurrences? While the reason cited in the earlier-mentioned scenario can sometimes be the case, it cannot be at all times. According to WHO, seven hundred thousand people die yearly as a result of su***de, both young and old, If the society from a perspective could see this and agree upon a change through social restructuring in norms and perceptions, how much less would we count?

The society needs a rapid change!
