Why Does My Ni***es Itch? Few Possible Causes And How You Can Treat The Itching Ni***es

Lots of things can make your ni***es itchy. They’re sensitive in general. They also stick out, and they can get irritated from friction, eczema, breastfeeding, or pregnancy. Rarely, itchy ni***es can be a sign of a more serious condition. Even if your urge to scratch is great, the problem is usually easy to treat. If you’ve been using over-the-counter products for a couple of weeks and the itch isn’t gone, check with your doctor .

***Eczema
It can cause a crusty rash on your ni***es and the flat part around it, especially if you’ve had eczema before. Use a thick moisturizer with ceramides, a waxy ingredient that helps heal the skin. A topical steroid cream like hydrocortisone can help with swelling and itching.
See us right away if you notice any oozing or tenderness, which could be a sign of infection.

***Soap
Your new soap, lotion, or laundry detergent could be behind your itchy ni***es. The chemicals in many cleansing products can cause a rash called contact dermatitis. It can show up as itchy red patches on your body. Switch to soaps and cleansers that are hypoallergenic, unscented, and free of dyes, and you’ll know if that’s the problem.

***Undergarments
Your breasts and ni***es may be reacting to the elastic or dye used to make your bra or lingerie. Contact dermatitis can cause redness and itching on the areas of the skin that touch the fabric, like your ni***es. If you’ve recently started wearing a new bra, go back to your old one for a while and see if the itch goes away.

***Friction
Your ni***es can chafe when they rub against clothing while you exercise or because your bra is too tight. It’s usually more painful than itchy, but some women say the friction can feel like itching or burning. Apply petroleum jelly (e.g. Blue Seal Vaseline) to the area before workouts to protect it from irritation, and make sure your bra fits well.

***Pregnancy
Weight gain, morning sickness, hormone swings, and ... itchy ni***es? Yep, add that to the list of symptoms of pregnancy. Blame it on hormone changes and skin stretching as your breasts and ni***es expand to get ready for a nursing baby. Cocoa butter, coconut oil, or a lanolin ointment rubbed on the ni***es can help lessen the itch.

***Breastfeeding
Milk residue, plugged milk ducts, and problems with your baby latching on during feedings all can make ni***es itchy and sore. It’s important to keep the area clean and dry and to continue to pump or nurse. Lanolin ointment and silicone gel pads cooled in the refrigerator can help ease your discomfort.

***Menopause
This stage of your life can make your skin thinner, drier, and more easily irritated. Blame it on your hormones going up and down and on lower levels of estrogen. Your body makes less oil, so it’s harder for your skin to retain moisture. The itch can strike just about anywhere on the body, including the va**na and ni***es. Fight the dryness by using mild cleansers, moisturizing often, and taking fewer hot showers.

***Paget's Disease
This rare form of breast cancer starts in the breast ducts and spreads to the ni**le and nearby area. It can look a lot like eczema, with crusted, scaly, and itchy skin. But it often affects just one ni**le, and you may also see blood or yellow discharge. If the rash doesn’t respond to eczema treatments, you may need a biopsy of a tissue sample to be sure. Paget's disease usually is treated with surgery, followed by radiation

***Benign Tumor
Sometimes, a noncancerous tumor in the breast duct can cause an itchy, crusted ni**le. You may feel a small lump or notice a clear or bloody discharge from the ni**le. To make the diagnosis, your doctor may X-ray your breast duct or order an ultrasound, mammogram, or biopsy. The treatment is usually surgery.

Few Safe S*x Mistakes To Avoid

You may think you're taking all the right precautions to keep yourself and your partner free of STIs (S*xually Transmitted Infections) and unwanted pregnancies. But if you're making any of these common errors, you're putting yourself at risk.

***Using a Condom the Wrong Way
Condoms help protect you from STIs and pregnancy, but only if you use them the right way. Only put a condom on an erect, or hard, p***s. Pinch any air out of the end and roll it all the way down. When you’re finished having s*x, hold the base of the condom and pull out.

***Using Expired Condoms
Don’t forget to check the expiration date. If a condom is dry, sticky, or stiff when you take it out, toss it and use a fresh one.

***Thinking Birth Control Stops STIs
The only surefire way to avoid them is to not have s*x -- oral, a**l, or va**nal -- or swap bodily fluids. Most forms of birth control, like pills or intrauterine devices (IUDs), won’t protect you from STIs. Barrier forms of protection, such as condoms and dental dams, lower your chances of infection and pregnancy.

***Having A**l S*x to Avoid Pregnancy
Your chances of getting pregnant from a**l s*x are low, but it’s not impossible. That’s because semen can move from your a**l area to the va**na. STIs are your main concern, though. Re**al tissue is thin and can tear easily, letting infection in. Use a condom every time you have a**l s*x. And use plenty of l**e. Condoms are more likely to break during a**l s*x because there’s less natural lubrication.

***Pulling Out as Birth Control
Also called the withdrawal method, the goal is to take your p***s out of the va**na before you climax, or ej*****te. But it’s risky for a few reasons. It takes self-control to pull out in time. And s***m can still get into the va**na through fluid that comes from the p***s before you ej*****te. There’s also no protection against STIs.

***Douching to Stop Pregnancy
Douching, or cleaning your va**na with water or a special solution, doesn’t protect you from pregnancy or an STI. In fact, it can spread an infection to other parts of the reproductive system like your uterus and fallopian tubes. Your va**na cleans itself.

8 March 2020
This year’s International Women's Day is being marked under the theme “I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women's Rights. The Generation Equality campaign is bringing together people of every gender, age, ethnicity, race, religion and country to drive actions that will create the gender-equal world we all deserve.

The World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for Africa is celebrating the day by underscoring its commitment to gender equality.

WHO in the African Region is taking important steps in addressing gender inequities. Strengthening the capacity of female staff through leadership development programmes, mentoring programmes and building a more conducive work environment for women in the Regional Office are among the ongoing measures.

This year, WHO in the African Region and the UN Volunteers Programme have partnered in an initiative to recruit 100 national and international UN volunteers, focusing on young women from the global south in another step to empower women.

WHAT’S THE MAXIMUM CAESARIAN-SECTIONS A WOMAN CAN HAVE?

While it’s hard to say how many C-sections is too many—for each individual—it’s generally accepted that risks/complications increase as the number of repeat C-sections increases.

As a physician, it’s difficult to put a limit on the number of children a couple is seeking, but the evidence does show that the risk begins to increase even faster after the third C-section. Chapa said. So, every patient is different and every case is unique.

However, from the current medical evidence, most medical authorities do state that if multiple C-Sections are planned, the expert recommendation is to adhere to the maximum number of three. Please, don’t exceed 3 CS, if you are in Nigeria, you will be helping yourself and family.

To help prevent any complications, doctors suggest waiting 18 to 24 months after C-section before getting pregnant again. Risk of labor complications seems to be reduced with attempted labor two years after the first C-section, it is important to try to time pregnancies and future deliveries correctly. Getting pregnant too soon after a C-section may be risky during the next subsequent va**nal birth, if attempted.

3.) High Blood Pressure
As you get older, your risk of high blood pressure increases, especially if you are overweight or have certain bad health habits. High blood pressure can cause life-threatening heart attacks or strokes or psychiatric manifestation without any warning. So working with your doctor to control it can save your life. Lowering your blood pressure can also prevent long-term dangers like heart disease and kidney failure.
Blood pressure readings include two numbers. The first (systolic) is the pressure of your blood when your heart beats. The second (diastolic) is the pressure between beats. Normal adult blood pressure is as follows;
Optimal BP is BP between 120/80 to 90/60. Anything below 90/60 is low BP and is more dangerous than High BP.
Normal BP is BP between 120/80 to 130/85
High Normal is BP between 130/85 to 139/89

Hypertension (HTN)
Grade 1 (Mild HTN) is BP between 140/90 to 159/99
Grade 2 (Moderate HTN) is BP between 160/100 to 179 100/109
Grade 3 (Severe HTN) is BP above 180/110

Ask us at Women Health Care Clinic, how often to have your blood pressure checked. We can control/manage your BP with routine follow up care, such that you don’t need any hospital visit.

4.) Cholesterol Levels
High cholesterol can cause plaque to build up inside the lumen of your arteries. Plaque can build up for many years without symptoms, eventually causing a heart attack or stroke. High blood pressure, diabetes, and smoking can all cause plaque to build up, too. It's a condition called hardening of the arteries or atherosclerosis. Lifestyle changes and medications can lower your risk.
Contact us and get your cholesterol lowered within weeks.

Essential Screening Tests Every Woman Needs
Part 1.

Why Screening Tests Are Important

There’s an old saying that, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure"? Getting checked early can help you stop diseases like Cancer, Diabetes, Hypertension, Hypercholesterolemia, HIV and Osteoporosis in the very beginning, when they’re easier to treat. Screening tests can spot illnesses even before you start having the symptoms. Which screening tests you need depends on your age, family history, your own health history, and other risk factors that may have predisposed you to such illnesses

Get Good Health Sense!

It's good health sense to talk with your doctor about screening tests and that’s why Women Health Care Clinic is here for you. Some tests, such as a Pap test or breast exam, should be a routine part of every woman’s health care. Other tests might be necessary based on your risk factors. Proper screening won’t always prevent a disease, but it can often find a disease early enough to give you the best chance of overcoming it.

Essential Screening Tests Every Woman Needs Includes

1.) Breast Cancer

The earlier you find breast cancer, the better your chance of a cure. Small breast-cancers are less likely to spread to lymph nodes and vital organs like the lungs, brain and bones. If you’re in your 20s or 30s, some experts recommend that your health care provider perform a breast exam as part of your regular check-up every one to three years. Read our post on: Breast Self-Examination (BSE) and Breast Awarenes. You may need more frequent screenings if you have any extra risk factors.
Mammograms are low-dose X-rays that can often find a lump before you ever feel it, though normal results don’t completely rule out cancer. If you are in your 20s and you had or have a family member who had or have Breast Cancer, then you should have a mammography at least every year. Some experts recommend that women in their 40s should have a mammogram every year. Then during your 50s through your 70s, you can switch to every other year. Of course, your doctor may recommend more frequent screenings if you’re at higher risk.

2.) Cervical Cancer

Cervical cancer is easy to prevent. The cervix is a narrow passageway between the uterus (where a baby grows) and the va**na (the birth ca**l). Your doctor may use Pap smears and or HPV testing to screen. Pap smears find abnormal cells on the cervix, which can be removed before they ever turn into cancer. The main cause of cervical cancer is the human papillomavirus (HPV), a type of STD.
During a Pap smear, your doctor scrapes some cells off your cervix and sends them to a lab for a**lysis. Your doctor will talk to you about whether you need a pap test alone or in combination with HPV testing. She will also talk to you about how often you need to be screened. If you're s*xually active and at risk, you'll need va**nal testing for chlamydia and gonorrhea every year.
Talk to us at Women Health Care Clinic, regarding issues on va**nal infections and discharge.

Does Palm Wine Boost Breast Milk Production/Flow

This post is put up to demystify the myths about the effects of palm wine on breastfeeding.
Though palm wine is low alcoholic drink, fresh content contains as little as 3% while the fermented one (overnight palm wine) can contain from 6% to as high as 12% alcoholic content.
Now, when alcohol is taken by a breastfeeding mum, it passes into the breast milk and can affect the baby. NO LEVEL OF ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION IS SAFE DURING BREASTFEEDING.

Effect of Palm Wine/Alcohol On Breastfeeding Mum

Palm wine/alcohol ingestion by breastfeeding mum sedative effect on the mum, thus making them to fall asleep which can be dangerous to the baby. Mums who are going to drink palm wine/alcohol are strongly advised not to have their baby sleep beside them on the same bed, but rather put the baby in there cots. They are to make plans to have an adult take care of the baby as they may not wake for the baby’s next feed.
It takes 2hours for a unit of alcohol (a small glass of wine, or half pint of beer) to leave the mother’s blood – making it dangerous to health.

Effect of Breastfeeding: How to Increase Your Milk Supply

When a breastfeeding mum takes alcohol, it gets into her breast milk, it makes the babies agitated and disrupt their sleep patterns.
When a breastfeeding mum takes alcohol, it gets into her breast milk, altering the taste of the milk, thus making the baby to take less breast milk. And studies have it that babies take 20% less milk if there is alcohol present in it.
Alcohol inhibits mother’s milk let-down (the release of milk into the ni**le), it reduces the flow contrary to the cultural/traditional belief.

Summary
The act of palm wine drinking by some breastfeeding mums is a myth with no medically proven or scientific basis or benefit. Most importantly, it is a harmful practice. Check out our next post on “Breastfeeding: How To Increase Your Milk Flow.”
