Good day dear followers and happy lover's day.
Let me give you my own Love šŸ’• gift early
Have you heard of someone who has a sudden tearing pain in the upper abdomen(thinking it's ulcer) that gets referred to the back, groins or pelvis and suddenly the person faints?
This can be a heartbreak šŸ’” worse than a partner not showing up on Val's day!
It's called Ruptured Aortic Aneurysm!
It's mostly asymptomatic and discovered accidentally if not complicated
The person may feel a mass in the abdomen that's pulsatile (beats like heart)
It's common in men, Hypertensive, high cholesterol, obesity and smokers.
It's usually fatal if it ruptures without quick surgical intervention.
Not all Heartburn is ulcer especially if you're above 40years or have other health conditions.
Always consult your Dr if you're unsure of your diagnosis!
Happy Val's Day

TGIF!

Do you have Common Cold or Flu? 🤧

The common cold and the flu may seem similar initially, they’re both respiratory illnesses and can cause similar symptoms. But different viruses cause these two conditions.

The symptoms can help you tell the difference.

Both a cold and the flu share a few common symptoms such as:

šŸ“Œ sneezing
šŸ“Œ runny or stuffy nose
šŸ“Œ general fatigue
As a rule, flu symptoms are more severe than cold symptoms.

Another distinct difference between the two is how serious they can get. Colds rarely cause other health conditions or problems. But the flu can lead to:

šŸ“Œ sinusitis (infection of the sinuses around the face/
šŸ“Œ ear infections
šŸ“Œ pneumonia (infection of the lungs)
šŸ“Œ sepsis (widespread generalized infection)

If your symptoms are severe, you may want to confirm either a cold or flu diagnosis.
Your doctor will ask some questions and may run some tests that can help determine what’s the cause of the symptoms.

You may consult if you have any of these symptoms.

Happy New Year once again dear followers

Do you remember
Water helps the kidneys remove wastes from your blood in the form of urine.
Water also helps keep your blood vessels open so that blood can travel freely to your kidneys, and deliver essential nutrients to them.

But if you become dehydrated, then it is more difficult for this delivery system to work efficiently
Dehydration can negatively affect different systems in your body and worsen your health over time.

Drink at least 2-3 liters of water per day

Stay hydrated.

Wishing you a healthy year ahead.

Good day dear followers,

Br£ast Cancer: VACCINE ON THE WAY!

According to the World Health Organization, 2.3 million women were diagnosed with bre@st cancer in 2020, and there were over 7.8 million women alive who had been diagnosed with bre@st cancer in the previous 5 years.

Being female is the biggest risk factor but around 1% do occur in men. The treatment follows the same principles for both sexes.

New research led by Dr. Mary (Nora) L. Disis, at the University of Washington Medicine Cancer Vaccine Institute on an EXPERIMENTAL VACCINE against BRĀ£AST CANCER has shown it generates a strong immune response to ERBB2—formerly called HER2—a key tumor protein.

This STUDY has passed phase 1 trial!

Meaning in the nearest future, we're likely to have a vaccine that can Prevent Bre@st Cancer as we have for Cervical Cancer!

In conclusion, while we wait for the complete clinical trials and recommendations, please ensure you:
Regularly check your bre@sts/Nippl£s and observe any change(s).
Let a Dr examine your bre@sts at least once in 1-3 years
Report anything unusual in shape, colour, lump(s) and n!pple discharge to your Dr immediately!
Do mammography at least once if you're above 40years
The Earlier the Better ...save a Bre@st,save a Life!

Good dear followers,TGIF!
Let's discuss alcohol today because for many people it's a Freaky/Enjoyment Friday!

Do you know Alcohol is a depressant that affects the Brain?
Although it initially and in small doses, acts as a stimulant?

It's a psychotropic substance that impacts the brain and can affect thoughts, mood, or behavior.

Globally, alcohol use is responsible for 320 deaths every hour, and the impact is more among those in the younger age group.

Nigeria ranks 2nd on the list of Episodic Alcohol drinkers in Africa after Seychelles

A large 2018 study indicated that any level of drinking is harmful. . Alcohol overuse also increases the of developing other conditions, including depression, cancer etc

It works by slowing down brain activity. An alcoholic may experience impaired judgment or slower reaction times

It may also lead to dehydration.

The percentage of alcohol varies depending on the type of beverage.
A standard beer may contain about 5% alcohol, whereas one portion of a distilled spirit could contain 40%.

When alcohol enters the body, most of it is absorbed into the bloodstream through the intestines. Blood, and therefore alcohol, is quickly distributed throughout the body and the brain.
This happens faster than the liver can metabolize and eliminate it.

Excessive alcohol use can cause:

liver disease
pancreatitis
Elevated blood pressure
Sudden infant death syndrome
Aggressive behavior
Accidental injuries
Alcohol use disorder
Heart Diseases
Stroke
Hypertension
Cognitive disorders
Dementia
Fetal alcohol syndrome
Increased Cancer Risk

In conclusion,
All levels of alcohol have been found harmful to the body so abstinence is best

However if you can't abstain, take small quantity of low percentage slowly

Avoid binge drinking

If you must drink, reduce the frequency i.e don't make it a daily affair, take fruits, vegetables and possibly supplements very well that will help reduce the harmful effects on your body

Whenever you realize you can't function reasonably without alcohol or you have no control over it's use pls seek for help!

Feel free to drop any questions or comments.
