IT'S JUNE 19th 2020.
*It's World Sickle Cell Day.*
We seek to remind the general populace on the fact that *Sickle Cell Disease (SCD)* is the disease of the red blood cell associated with symptoms including vaso-occlusive crisis, infections, complications, pains and sometimes chest syndrome; as a result of malformation of the blood cells.
Therefore,
TO THE (WARRIORS)
We join to celebrate all sickle cell diagnosed patient across the globe, those fighting and winning everytime the battle of soul, fighting for life, you're truly the *"warriors"* and we present these guidelines and excerpt for all during this global pandemic.
We love you and will join you in the fight, the way we can.
Sickle cell anemia is not a condemned and terminal ailment as there have been a lot of sensitization to reassure all diagnosed patient in which those coming out from it after much compliance with the lifestyle improvements, medical interventions and up-to-date support from friends and family have much to say on how to overcome and some are happily married, parents and grandparents already, the heroes.
Therefore, you can make it through too, by adhering strictly to your prescribed medications as instructed,
❌ Say "No" to drug abuse and substance use,
❌ Don't bow to stigma but be strong within for yourself and for us all,
❌ Don't consider su***de; it's never the way out,
❌ Don't abuse opioids,
✅ Live your life in fullness to God's will and purpose,
✅ Use facemasks during this pandemic and maintain physical distancing, healthy hand wash and hygienic practises.
TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC:
❤️ Know your genotype and that of your intended partner,
❤️ Ask questions from your physicians before sealing the matchmaking,
❤️ Wrong cross match could give rise to a lifelong management of sickle cell disease,
Check the genotype of your family members too.
❤️ Don't stigmatize sickle cell patients but use any opportunity to extend support in all ways to them, ask about their access to healthcare and join hands to raise support for those that couldn't afford.
Today is world sickle day and we enjoy everyone to rally round every one you know around you and celebrate them with all resources at your disposals and keep preaching about the pain associated with wrong genotypical matching.
Remember that every warrior is an heroe and every heroe fights with hope in view, no heroe fights with defeated heart, keep hope alive and you shall pull through.
