This morning, I'd like us to talk about a silent killer called Diabetes: Its causes, prevention, complications, and other things we need to know about this deadly disease.

WHAT IS DIABETES?

Diabetes is a condition where your body can't control its blood sugar levels. Blood sugar is like fuel for your body, and when it gets too high, it can cause problems.

TYPES OF DIABETES

1. TYPE 1: Your body attacks its own insulin-making cells, so you need to take insulin shots.
2. TYPE 2: Your body becomes resistant to insulin, making it hard to control blood sugar.
3. GESTATIONAL: Develops during pregnancy due to hormonal changes.

CAUSES AND RISK FACTORS OF DIABETES

- Family history
- Being overweight or inactive
- Unhealthy eating
- Age (over 45)

SYMPTOMS OF DIABETES

- Feeling thirsty and hungry often
- Going to the bathroom a lot
- Feeling tired
- Blurry vision
- Slow-healing cuts
- Numbness in hands and feet

COMPLICATIONS

- Heart problems
- Kidney damage
- Nerve damage
- Eye damage
- Foot damage

MANAGEMENT

- Taking medication or insulin
- Eating a healthy diet
- Exercising regularly
- Checking blood sugar levels
- Regular health check-ups

PREVENTION

- Maintaining a healthy weight
- Staying active
- Eating a balanced diet
- Limiting sugary foods and drinks
- Getting regular health check-ups
- Remember, small changes can make a big difference
