A sonographical case of Acute pyelonephritis

What is Pyelonephritis: Pyelonephritis is the inflammation of the kidney due to infection

Symptoms of Pyelonephritis
Flank pain/ side pain/ groin pain
Fever
Cloudy/dark/foul smelling urine
Frequent/painful urination
Vomiting
Nausea

Acute pyelonephritis is usually classified as an infectious Interstitial Pyelonephritis which could have occured through the urinary tract infection.

A self Patient came in not quite long, she complained of lower abdominal pain, more at the the right lower quadrant (Right Iliac Fossa) region. She was contemplating if she should do the suggested tests or go for treatment straight up, she meant been treated blindly.

I told her that's very bad. I cited an illustration of a patient who was admitted for some days and almost all she was given through out was fluid, her face, legs,hands started swelling. And to your surprise, they've just complicated her condition by causing water intoxication/water overload, upsetting her body electrolytes balance.

Have you heard of spontaneous heterotrophic pregnancy. This is a serious and rare condition whereby a baby is growing in the womb(uterus) while the other baby is growing at the same time outside the uterus.

In this caption, one baby is growing inside the womb while the other one is growing simultaneously inside her right ovary(wrong location).

Diagnosis from CREST Mobile Health Clinic.

The posterior wall of the urinary bladder of the patient contains a mobile hypoechoic mass suggestive of blood clot.

Findings: Urinary Bladder Hematoma.

What is Urinary Bladder Hematoma?: It is a situation where by there is accumulation of blood within the urinary bladder, the blood accumulated can become congeal/clotted.

Symptoms:
Blood in urine
Painful urination
Pelvic pain

What can cause Urinary Bladder Hematoma?
1. Trauma/tear/bruise within the urinary bladder
2. Prostatic hypertrophy; that's enlarged prostate organ in men
3. Hemorrhagic cystitis
4. Bladder stone

Treatment/Management:
Blood clot evacuation using Catheter or Cystoscopy

Most times, this condition comes with Cystitis. Cystitis is the inflammation of the bladder wall, causing it thickness >3mm at a well distended state and >5mm when not distended.
You may ask why Cystitis, yes, cystitis may occur due to any chemical or mechanical cause irritating the bladder wall.

In oftentimes, Cystitis comes with Urinary tract infection and or urinary retention depending on the stage. This happens when someone is unable to void much of the urine in his or her bladder, thereby causing bacterial overloading.
