MENTAL HEALTH HYGIENE
There have been increased cases of mental health disorders in recent times. WHO reports su***de as the fourth leading cause of death among teens and young adults; and depression as one of the leading causes of disability.
Mental health is a vital aspect of our general health. It involves our psychological, emotional and social well-being. And like every health issue, prevention is always preferable.
Mental health hygiene is the entirety of the practical preventive measures taken, not only to prevent mental health disorders, but also to maintain a good mental health. Here are some recommended steps in maintaining a good and positive mental health:
• Getting adequate sleep every day.
• Staying physically fit and active through regular exercises.

• Staying connected with positive people, e.g. workout group/partner.
• Developing Coping skills, for example mindfulness and meditation in managing stress.
• Getting professional help if you need it
