Mohbad’s Widow Files Caveat to Protect His Estate.
The widow of the late Mr. Ilerioluwa Promise Aloba, widely known as Mohbad, has officially taken legal steps to safeguard his estate. She has filed a caveat at the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja, preventing the issuance of Letters of Administration to any unauthorized individual.
In a letter dated 19th November 2025, signed by I. P. Awo Esq. of Salawu, Akingbolu & Co., and addressed to the Probate Registrar, the law firm confirmed that they represent Mrs. Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba — the legal wife of the deceased and mother of his only surviving child, Master Liam Aloba.
According to the notice submitted, the solicitors confirmed that their client has properly completed and filed Form 5 and Form 6, serving as an official notice of caveat. This filing prohibits the granting of Letters of Administration to anyone regarding Mohbad’s estate. The referenced copies of these forms were noted as attached in the correspondence.
Additionally, the widow ensured that the caveat was published in two national newspapers in November 2025.
The lawyers explained that these publications were necessary to prevent any secret, unlawful, or fraudulent attempts by third parties to obtain Letters of Administration without the knowledge or consent of the rightful beneficiaries. Copies of the published notices were listed as annexures.
The legal representatives emphasized that the caveat remains active in the court’s records and is meant to ensure that no Letters of Administration are issued to anyone other than the lawful beneficiaries.
Reaffirming their trust in the court’s commitment to due process and transparency, the solicitors expressed confidence that no irregular or fraudulent application will be permitted — especially considering that Mohbad’s legal wife and biological son are both alive.
