One thing no one prepared us for in motherhood was how lonely it can feel, even when you are surrounded by people.

Lonely in decisions.
Lonely in doubts.
Lonely in carrying expectations no one talks about.

Motherhood changes your body, your priorities, and your sense of self, but it shouldn’t cost you your voice.

Momat4ty's Moms Round Table exists so mothers don’t have to process everything alone. Join us in February for 2026 first live chat.

Follow us and don't miss the date!

For now, finish the sentence in the comments:

Many African mothers are exhausted, not because they are weak, but because they are unsupported.

Unsupported at work.
Unsupported within extended family systems.
Unsupported by healthcare structures.
Unsupported emotionally.

Yet the expectation remains: cope, manage, sacrifice, smile.

When mothers struggle, the blame is often placed on the woman, never on the systems that refuse to evolve.

You are not failing.
You are responding to an environment that was never designed to carry you.

This is why we must step up, engage in dialogue together, and turn things around for ourselves!

Embracing motherhood in this season of life (Motherhood after 35) is a journey of both wisdom and grace.

To support yourself and your baby, prioritise a foundation of intentional wellness:

1. Nourish: Choose nutrient-dense foods to sustain your energy and growth.

2. Move: Keep it gentle and consistent—walk, stretch, and stay fluid.

3. Pause: Protect your peace. Rest is vital, not optional.

4. Connect: Lean on your community and prioritise your emotional health.

You’ve spent years building your strength; now is the time to pour that care back into yourself.

Save this post as a daily reminder to choose rest and nourishment. Visit our blog to learn more about keeping yourself and baby healthy through this journey

We need to talk about the leading cause of maternal death in Nigeria.

Postpartum bleeding (PPH) is a silent crisis, and for our community of moms over 35, the risks are real.
But here is the good news: Preparation saves lives.

In this video, we are sharing two non-negotiable steps for your birth plan:

- Blood Standby: Don’t wait for an emergency. Ensure your hospital has blood or confirmed donors on standby before you go into labor.

- Listen to Your Body: If you feel physically weak or your doctor expresses concern about the strain of labour, opting for a C-Section is not a failure; it is a life-saving decision.

We want every Momat4ty mom to come home with her baby.

To learn more about Postpartum Bleeding, visit our blog. Please read it, save it, and share it with your spouse.

This Christmas, try a Family Culture Day at Home.

Pick one day to cook a simple Nigerian dish together (jollof, puff-puff, or chin chin), play old-school Nigerian music, and ask your children to share what they love most about Christmas in Nigeria or what they’re curious about.

End the day with a short story about your childhood Christmas or a lesson you want them to carry into the new year.

It’s not about perfection, just presence, culture, and connection. This is the Naija Christmas Spirit!

Create a tradition every year and great memories together 🎄
