GIARDIASIS

This is an infection in your small intestine. It is caused by a microscopic parasite called Giardia lamblia. Giardiasis spreads through contaminated food or water or by person-to-person contact. It's most common in areas with poor sanitation and unsafe water.

Common symptoms include:

-fatigue
-nausea
-diarrhea or greasy stools
-loss of appetite
-vomiting
-bloating and abdominal cramps
-weight loss
-excessive gas
-headaches
-abdominal pain

Note: Some people have no symptoms.

Treatment

Certain antibiotics are commonly used to treat giardiasis:
-Tindazole (Commonly used)
-Metronidazole
-Nitazoxanide
-Paromomycin

Prevention

You can’t prevent giardiasis, but you can lower your risk of getting it by thoroughly washing your hands, especially if you work in places where germs spread easily, such as day care centers.

Note: Giardiasis also spreads through unprotected a**l s*x and can pass infection from one person to another.

HERPANGINA.

Herpangina is a painful mouth infection caused by coxsackie viruses.
Usually, it is produced by one strain of coxsackie virus A, but it can also be coxsackie virus B or echo viruses.

Herpangina is a viral illness that is most often seen in children aged three to ten, but it can occur at any age.

A small number of lesions(usually two to six forms in the back area of the mouth, particular the soft palate or the tonsillar pillars. The lesions progress from red macules to vesicles and lastly to ulcerations, which can be 2 - 4mm in size.

Symptoms include:

-Fever with sore throat
-Headache
-Loss of appetite
-Neck pain

Treatment involves:
-Rest
-Drinking fluids
-Pain relievers.
