RADIOTHERAPY - 1,800,000 (approx)
BRACHYTHERAPY - 800,000
TEST and repeated scan - 400,000
Totaling - 3,986,770 (approx 4million)

We are saddened to inform us that that that the pregnant patient we raised funds for has passed on. We pray Allah forgive her sins and grant her Janat-ul-Firdaws

We got more than #200 000 which was used to pay for her initial admission at the ICU. The remaining donations will be used for indigent patients who also require assistance.

We appreciate everyone who contributed to her care. May Allāh reward us all in multifolds.

APPRECIATION - DAY 2 MASSIVE BLOOD DONATION DRIVE AT UNILORIN MAIN CAMPUS (26/06/2024)

Alhamdulilah robi-l-'alameen. We give give thanks to Allah who made today's donation drive a successful one.

Like the day 1 donation drive at COHS, the turnout and willingness was more than remarkable. It highlights the abundant resources within our community, ready to be utilized to address our challenges.

We appreciate the staff of the UITH Blood Bank who facilitated the drive. We commend your cooperation and cordiality throughout our partnership and we hope for future collaborations.

Our apologies to those, particularly the sisters, who could not donate because we ran out of time. We pray Allah reward your intentions.

We express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who took part in the donation drive. We reached out and you responded. Your selfless contributions will make a significant impact on the lives of countless individuals.

*Modalities for the Blood Donation Drive*

Here are answers to 8 most frequently asked questions:

*1. Where and when would it take place?*: The Blood Donation Drive on Wednesday, 26th June at the Unilorin Central Masjid

*2. What's in it for me?*
The Donation Drive was organised by the H.V.J, a unit of the MSSN that caters for the sick ones in hospitals. Participating is a means of seeking nearness to Allah and a form of Sadaqah.

*3. Who will conduct the donation?*:
The donation exercise will be facilitated by the experienced staff of the University of Ilorin Blood Bank / Haematology department, ensuring professionalism and safety throughout the process.

*4. When would it be/How long would it take:* The Blood Donation Drive would commence by 9:00 am. Individual donation sessions are expected to last approximately 30 minutes per donor. However, the officials will be available on-site from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm

*5. But I'm afraid of needle-pricks*: UITH Blood Bank Staff are professionals trained to provide gentle care and support throughout the donation process. Still not convinced? Come around to observe the donation process from a distance. Witnessing their competence will increase your comfort levels and willingness to donate.

*6. What's the deal about genotype/blood group?*: You can take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about your genotype and blood group while contributing to a worthy cause. This is completely optional. Any questions regarding the results or their interpretation are welcomed.

*7. How do I know I'm fit and what if I'm not?*
A fitness test will be conducted before blood is collected. You will be informed if you are unfit. You can still help the cause by informing others of the programme.

*8. After donating, what's next?*: After donating blood, participants will be provided with refreshments. A designated rest area and other comforts will also be provided.

Recently, the final year medical students conducted a hepatitis vaccination campaign at the University's main campus. Those who received this vaccine will temporarily be ineligible to donate blood for several months. This is due to the screening procedures which may incorrectly identify the blood as hepatitis positive.

The Donation Drive will still hold on Wednesday, 26th June, 2024 as scheduled but everyone who participated in the vaccination will be excused from donating.

Do you get scared when you see blood? Some die when they don't. Multiple pints are needed daily by individuals afflicted with a sickness or the other in hospitals.

👉" Whoever saves a life, it is as if he had saved all mankind_ ” (Qur'an 5:32)👈

Our bodies contain approximately 10 pints of blood. That's about 10 sachets of water. Only one pint is collected when you donate blood—a small fraction that your body replenishes within a very short time. A thorough fitness assessment is conducted prior to the collection to ensure the donation poses no risk to your health, bi idhni Llah.

There will also be a Free Blood group and Genotype Testing

By joining this noble cause, you are contributing to a lifeline that cannot be replicated in a laboratory. It is a direct way to make a difference, knowing your donation could be the difference between life and death for someone in a critical situation.

This is to bring to our notice that the Blood Donation Drive scheduled to take place at the University of Ilorin Main Campus on Tuesday, 11th June 2024, will no longer be held as scheduled.

We share your eagerness in these efforts to save lives and reduce the burden of sick ones in hospitals, most beloved deeds in the sight of Allah. This decision is, however, to ensure better logistics and effective utilization of the donations already received.
