From the look of the bumps in the image — multiple small, round, raised lesions with a tiny dip (umbilication) in the center — this most closely looks like Molluscum contagiosum.
What it is called
Molluscum contagiosum
What causes it
It is caused by a virus (a poxvirus)
The virus spreads through:
Skin-to-skin contact
Shared towels, clothes, bedding
Touching contaminated surfaces
In babies, it can spread easily because their immune system is still developing
Key features that match the picture
Small, flesh-colored or pink bumps
Smooth and round
Central dimple (dent) in the middle
Can appear on the face, scalp, trunk, and limbs
Usually not painful, but may itch
Is it dangerous?
Usually not life-threatening
Often clears on its own over weeks to months
However, in newborns or very young infants, widespread lesions should be checked by a doctor
Important note ⚠️
Other serious conditions (like neonatal infections) can sometimes look similar in babies. Because this is a newborn, it’s very important that the child is seen by a healthcare professional as soon as possible for proper diagnosis and care.
