🌍 CLIMATE CHANGE: It's Not Just a Distant Threat β€” It's Happening Now.
Every time we use a plastic bag, leave the fan running in an empty room, or drive short distances instead of walking, we add a drop to a rising ocean. 🌊

πŸ›‘ But small changes can lead to massive impact:
βœ… Switch to public transport or cycling
βœ… Carry your own cloth bag
βœ… Plant a tree or care for one 🌱
βœ… Choose LED over incandescent bulbs
βœ… Say no to fast fashion πŸ‘•

πŸ”₯ Let’s fight greenhouse gas emissions, deforestation & fossil fuel dependency with conscious daily choices.

πŸ’¬ Which one of these will you start today? Tell us in the comments!

Propagation via Air Layering: Ficus benjamina (Weeping Fig)

Air layering is a reliable and relatively easy method to propagate Ficus benjamina, especially in warm climates like Nigeria. This technique encourages roots to form on a branch while it's still attached to the parent plant. Here's a step-by-step guide:

---

βœ… Best Time to Air Layer

Late spring to early rainy season (April–July in Nigeria)

When the plant is actively growing

---

βœ‚οΈ Materials Needed

Sharp knife or pruning blade

Sphagnum moss or coco peat

Plastic wrap or black polythene sheet

String or twist ties

Rooting hormone (optional but helpful)

Clean water

---

🌱 Step-by-Step Procedure

1. Select a Healthy Branch

Choose a pencil-thick or slightly thicker branch.

Preferably semi-hardwood (not too green, not too woody).

It should be 12–18 inches long with plenty of leaves.

2. Make the Cut

About 30–45 cm from the tip, make a 1-inch ring cut around the branch.

Remove the bark and cambium layer (the green layer under the bark) to prevent re-growth.

Scrape gently until you see white wood.

3. Apply Rooting Hormone (Optional)

Dab a bit of rooting hormone on the exposed area for quicker root formation.

Let's be deliberate with the fight against desert encroachment! Its;

(1) Sacking our farmlands villages and communities.

(2) Increasing drought, shortening raining seasons and creatingb famine.

(3) Enlarging our nations Sahara and widening the savanna and Shrinking the tropics.

(4) Forcing migration of herders towards the southern part of Nigeria, therefore sparking violence due to lack of natural resources.

Let's be deliberate in this fight by;

(1) Stopping deforestation and encourage more of afforestation.

(2) Alternative renewable energy sources like bio gas, solar and thermal energy.

Let's be deliberate with the fight. Our environment is our Resource.
