Delayed onset of rain, prolonged dry spells, and massive flooding and receding lake waters, desert encroachment, heat waves, are a few among many manifestations of the impact of climate change in Nigeria in recent years. These have led to the loss of lives and property and increased tension amongst communities as they contest for space and livelihood.

"Climate change is not just an environmental issue; it is a call to action for every sector of society to build resilience and mitigate its impacts. Together, through collaboration, innovation, and commitment, we can secure a sustainable future for generations to come. The time to act is now—because the cost of inaction is far greater."—Prof. Ambrose Audu Zemba (Professor of Climatology).

These were the parting words of Prof Zemba from the Modibbo Adama University Yola during a 5-day capacity building workshop on environmental and climate reporting and action for journalists, line ministries, and agencies including NEMA, NIMET, NOA drawn from Abuja, Adamawa, and Yobe states.
The workshop was organised in Kano by Plan International Nigeria with funding from the Zurich Alliance.

The Zurich Alliance’s funded Climate Resilient project is being implemented in Yobe and Adamawa states by Plan International Nigeria to mitigate these impacts especially as it relates to girls and women. Join in this campaign to
