Aderele Kudabo Sentenced to Prison for Sexual Assault in the UK
Yesterday, a 47-year-old Nigerian man, Aderele Kudabo, was sentenced to one year in prison by a UK court after pleading guilty to two counts of sexual assault.
Mr. Kudabo was employed at a hospital where his duties included assisting patients who were paralyzed or too weak to care for themselves. One of his patients, a woman named Henry Fernandez, reported that during one of these interactions, he inappropriately kissed her on the lips without her consent. The incident left her shocked and deeply uncomfortable.
According to her account, the behavior was repeated the following day, prompting her to report the matter to hospital authorities. The hospital accepted Mr. Kudaboโs resignation in an effort to manage the situation discreetly. However, the victim proceeded to report the incident to the police, leading to his arrest.
During the trial, Mr. Kudabo admitted to both charges and expressed regret for his actions, claiming he acted out of pity for the patientโs condition. Judge Alex Menary sentenced him to 12 months in prison, with a requirement that he serve at least six months before any consideration for early release.
This case serves as a reminder of the importance of consent and the responsibility of caregivers to maintain clear professional boundaries, especially with vulnerable individuals.
Letโs continue to support victims who speak up, and advocate for safe, respectful care environments for all.
