Jayden has been off sick this week due to eating too much chicken and then the pox decided to come out 🤣🤣(let me know if you get the code 😂). So I took the day off to stay with him and it was awesome. He has always shown his love for music and has excellent ears for picking lyrics after listening to a music 🎶 just few times.
Today, I entered his room and saw him playing his guitar and singing that I quickly brought out my phone to record him. I have loads of videos of him singing in my phone that I don't really post but he wanted me to show this one to his friends and wouldn't stop watching it. Maybe I'll open a page and post some of the videos sitting in my gallery (what do ya'll think ?)
Anyways, enjoy our musical piece from my boy Jayden, the lyrics is not perfect but I have only played this music few times in the house and I'm so impressed he could even remember it. Proud of him 👏 ❤️ Following

If you’re looking for a diet that’s healthy for your eyes, here’s some good news: The same diet that helps your heart and the rest of your body will help your eyes. Plus, you’ll enjoy many delicious choices.

Why Is Nutrition Important for Good Vision?
“Some nutrients keep the eye healthy overall, and some have been found to reduce the risk of eye diseases,”

Eating a diet low in fat and rich in fruits, vegetables and whole grains can help not only your heart but also your eyes. This isn't surprising: Your eyes rely on tiny arteries for oxygen and nutrients, just as the heart relies on much larger arteries. Keeping those arteries healthy will help your eyes.

What Should I Focus On for Eye-Healthy Eating?

👉Orange-colored vegetables and fruits with vitamin A

Perhaps the best-known eye-healthy nutrient is vitamin A. Your retina needs plenty of vitamin A to help turn light rays into the images we see. Also, without enough vitamin A, your eyes can’t stay moist enough to prevent dry eye.

👉Carrots are a well-known source of vitamin A. Sweet potatoes provide even more vitamin A, Dr. Taylor said. “A sweet potato has more than 200% of the daily dose of vitamin A doctors recommend.” Fruits, including cantaloupe and apricots, can be a good source of vitamin A.

👉Fruits and veggies rich in Vitamin C

Vitamin C is critical to eye health. As an antioxidant, vitamin C helps protect the body from damage caused by some things we eat, unhealthy habits and environmental factors. Fried foods, to***co smoke and the sun’s rays can produce free radicals--molecules that can damage and kill cells. Vitamin C helps repair and grow new tissue cells.

Good sources of vitamin C include citrus fruits, such as oranges, tangerines, grapefruit and lemons. Lots of other foods offer vitamin C, including peaches, red bell peppers, tomatoes and strawberries.

👉Antioxidants can prevent or at least delay age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and cataracts, according to the Age-Related Eye Diseases Study (AREDS).

👉Vitamin E

Another important antioxidant is vitamin E, which helps keep cells healthy. Vitamin E can be found in avocados, almonds and sunflower seeds.

👉Cold-water fish with omega-3 fatty acids

👉Diets rich in omega-3 fatty acids from cold-water fish may help reduce the risk of developing eye disease later in life, research suggests. These fish include salmon, tuna, sardines, halibut and trout. “Omega-3’s are good for tear function, so eating fish may help people with dry eye,”

👉Leafy green vegetables rich in lutein and zeaxanthin

Lutein and zeaxanthin are antioxidants found in the pigments of leafy green vegetables and other brightly colored foods. They are key to protecting the macula, the area of the eye that gives us our central, most detailed vision. Kale and spinach have plenty of these nutrients. Other foods with useful amounts of lutein and zeaxanthin include romaine lettuce, collards, turnip greens, broccoli and peas. And while not leafy and green, eggs also are a good source of these nutrients.

👉Beans and zinc

The mineral zinc helps keep the retina healthy and may protect your eyes from the damaging effects of light. However, zinc can lower the amount of copper in your body, which we need to help form red blood cells. Fortunately, you can increase both at once with all kinds of beans (legumes), including black-eyed peas, kidney beans and lima beans. Other foods high in zinc include oysters, lean red meat, poultry and fortified cereals.

👊Should I Get Eye-Healthy Nutrients Through Vitamin Supplements?

Eating the right food is the best way to get eye-healthy nutrients, “In general, most people can and should get enough nutrients through their diet without needing to take supplements.”

People who have macular degeneration are an exception. “In this case, taking supplements is recommended by the Age Related Eye Disease Study 2, a follow-up to the AREDS (Age-Related Eye Disease) Study. Talk with your Eye doctor if you or a family member has AMD,”

No matter your age, it’s not too late to start eating healthy, . “So many of my patients focus on a healthy diet only after they’ve been diagnosed with a serious health problem. Start eating well now to benefit your vision and your health for the rest of your life.”

👊 🙊to the eye(s)

Impact to the eye is another form of eye trauma. Minor blows can often be managed at home. Any eye injury should be monitored for signs of a serious injury or potential infection.

First aid care for a blow to the eyes includes:

👍Gently place a cold compress over your eye in 5- to 10-minute intervals
👍 Do not place ice directly on the skin. Instead, use a cloth in between the ice and skin.
👍Call your doctor. They may want to examine the eye for potential damage. If the trauma was significant (for example, skull fracture or displaced bones), you will need to go to an emergency department for immediate evaluation.
👌After 24 hours, switch to warm compresses. This will help lessen bruising.
👌Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any of the following symptoms:

-drainage from the affected eye
-vision changes
-persistent pain
-any visible abnormalities or bleeding in the sclera, which is the white part of the eye.

Among the many changes our bodies undergo as we get older are the changes to our eyesight.👀

Early diagnosis is critical for stopping many sight-threatening conditions in their tracks, which is why we should be on the watch for signs of age-related vision loss. There are also more benign ways our eyesight can change over the years, and it’s important to know about those too!

A few more common changes that can happen to our vision with age include:

* Changes to color perception: the older we get, the more colors may grow dull or yellowish.

*Reduced tear production: our eyes produce fewer tears as we age, which can result in symptoms of dry eye. We need tears to maintain clear vision and maintain eye health.

*Requiring more light to see: we begin to need more light to see clearly as we get older.

*Presbyopia: the vast majority of adults around age 40 begin to struggle with reading tiny prints as the lens in their eyes become less flexible. This is why reading glasses, bifocals, and transition lenses are staples of the older decades.

*Increased sensitivity to glare: this can be a serious problem while driving, but wearing polarized lenses will block the glare.

✍️Any of the above issues can be frustrating and inconvenient, even if there are ways to effectively address them, but there are several sight-threatening conditions for which age is a major risk factor:

-Diabetic retinopathy
-Macular degeneration
-Cataracts
-Glaucoma
-Retinal detachment etc.....

Advances in medicine and technology have made it easier to treat or slow the progress of these conditions, and future innovations will only improve prognoses in the coming years. Early diagnosis is currently the best way to ensure a favorable management, so make sure to keep up with your regular eye exams as you get older.

In addition to the regular eye exams, there’s a lot an individual can do to look after their eye health. No matter what season it is, wear UV-blocking glasses, photochromic glasses or glasses with the appropriate coatings to meet your eye care needs.

Maintain an active lifestyle, which means regular exercise, a diet full of healthy foods, and avoiding harmful habits like smoking. Doing this will greatly reduce eye disease risk factors, and you’ll also get all the other benefits that come with a healthy lifestyle!

One more easy tip to follow that will help in the short term if you happen to spend a large portion of your day looking at screens is to follow the 20-20-20 rule. For every 20 minutes of screentime, take a little break to focus on something at least 20 feet away for 20 seconds. This will help combat the effects of eye strain.

Your Lifelong Vision Health Is Our Goal!
The importance of yearly eye exams for patients below and over 40 in particular cannot be overstated. If it’s been longer than that since we last saw you, now’s a great time to schedule your next appointment!

We can’t wait to see you!
