🚫 FACT CHECK: THIS VIRAL “STROKE NEEDLE PRICK” ADVICE IS DANGEROUS 🚫
Once again, social media is circulating a claim that pricking a stroke victim’s ear or fingertips with a needle can save their life.
These posts often mention “Chinese medicine” or “Chinese professors” as the source of the advice.
📌 This is FALSE — and extremely dangerous.
We spoke with medical professionals trained in both Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Western Medicine, and they confirmed one thing:
👉🏽 There is NO medical evidence that pricking someone with a needle can stop or reverse a stroke.
👉🏽 Doing this wastes precious time — and time lost equals brain lost.
A stroke is a medical emergency. The only real “first aid” is to get the patient to a hospital immediately.
Every minute you delay reduces their chances of survival and increases the risk of permanent brain damage.
🧠 What to do instead if you suspect a stroke:
✔️ Call emergency services or rush the person to the nearest hospital
✔️ Keep them calm and lying down
✔️ Loosen tight clothing
✔️ Do NOT give them food, drink, or medication unless instructed by a doctor
✔️ MOST IMPORTANT: Get medical help FAST
A stroke is not something you “manage at home.”
Needles will NOT open blocked arteries or stop bleeding in the brain — but quick medical intervention can.
Let’s stop the spread of dangerous misinformation.
